6 Marvel cameos we wish happened in Deadpool & Wolverine

As a long-time comic book enthusiast and Marvel Cinematic Universe fanatic, I must say that “Deadpool & Wolverine” was nothing short of exhilarating. The action, humor, and cameos were all top-notch, but let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good surprise appearance?

In a word, the Marvel Cinematic Universe collaboration between Deadpool and Wolverine surpassed all expectations, offering an exhilarating blend of hero camaraderie, high-octane action, and a mind-blowing soundtrack. But what truly set this movie apart were its unexpected guest appearances, which took it to unparalleled heights.

Experiencing fewer things could be equated to missing out on going to the theater and discovering unexpectedly that stars like Johnny Storm, Blade, Elektra, Gambit, among others, made an appearance. Therefore, we’re extremely content with what Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and the Marvel team have produced in this awe-inspiring blockbuster. However, if we dare to dream bigger and request additional mind-blowing cameos, then certain characters immediately come to mind.

So it’s time to break down who else we missed in Deadpool & Wolverine!

6 Marvel cameos we wish happened in Deadpool & Wolverine

Storm and Cyclops

Before the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, there had been many whispers suggesting that certain actors would revive their iconic X-Men roles on the big screen. For quite some time, it was speculated that Cyclops might be one of them, and James Marsden’s remarks only added more fuel to this flame. When asked if he would don the X-Men suit once again, the American actor cryptically responded “We just finished filming [Sonic 3] actually. We were actually near the Deadpool stages at Pinewood. Yes, it seems like opening a Pandora’s box”.

Sure thing!

On the very same page, there was widespread speculation that Storm would appear in the film titled Deadpool & Wolverine. Furthermore, actress Halle Berry even posted a picture on Instagram showing off Storm’s distinctive white hair. Naturally, we all assumed she would make an appearance of some kind… but unfortunately, this did not happen.

In the film “Deadpool & Wolverine“, Storm and Cyclops were certainly missed, but having them there might have made the movie feel overcrowded. It seems their omission may have actually been beneficial.

Charles Xavier and Magneto

At the outset, let’s make clear that neither Professor X nor Magneto were featured in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, the film did mention them both indirectly. In The Void, Cassandra Nova was using Charles Xavier’s wheelchair since they are twins. Meanwhile, Deadpool had a brief wish that Magneto could join X-23’s team of heroes. Although Magneto and Laura Kinney were at some point in The Void, Cassandra swiftly disposed of him off-screen. Consequently, neither of these renowned characters made it into the final version of the movie.

It’s likely that when you ponder over beloved X-Men characters, Magneto and Charles are often among the first ones that come to mind. It would have been satisfying to catch a glimpse of them one last time before we bid adieu to the Fox Marvel universe. Given their significant contributions to the X-Men series up until now, it seemed fitting for Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart to reprise their roles as Magneto and Charles Xavier in the movies Deadpool & Wolverine.

It seems it didn’t happen as expected, but there’s a strong likelihood that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will incorporate these well-known characters once the updated X-Men are eventually brought into live-action movies.

Doctor Strange

Is it unfair of us to expect Doctor Strange to pop up in Deadpool & Wolverine? Given that the trailers hinted at his famous magic portals, it seemed logical that he, the impending Sorcerer Supreme, would be the one creating them. However, it turned out to be Cassandra instead.

It’s worth noting that Doctor Strange isn’t unfamiliar with appearing in other Marvel Cinematic Universe films; he made a brief appearance in Thor: Ragnarok and played a significant role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Given this, it would have been enjoyable to see an alternate version of him in The Void. Additionally, from a storytelling perspective, it would have been fitting given that his Sling Ring was instrumental in transporting Logan and Deadpool out of the barren land at the end of time.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for this cameo appearance. However, don’t be disappointed, as Doctor Strange is still busy trying to thwart an incursion with Clea at the moment. All that’s left to ponder is when and where we’ll catch up with him again next.

Ghost Rider

As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but feel like my dreams are coming true! It’s not just wishful thinking; Ryan Reynolds himself confirmed during an interview with Collider that Nicholas Cage was once in discussions to reprise his role as the flaming Ghost Rider in Deadpool & Wolverine. That’s right, folks! The blazing hero might be making a surprise appearance!

Yes, [things] came to a conversation for sure. Yeah, but no.

Ryan Renolds

Although Ryan didn’t share further insights into Ghost Rider’s abandoned part, it’s plausible to speculate that he would have featured alongside X-23, Elektra, Gambit, and Blade in The Void. Envision a battle scene between Cassandra’s troops and Marvel’s streamlined heroes, but this time with Johnny Blaze involved. Don’t you think it would have added an extra layer of excitement to an already thrilling scenario?

It’s uncertain why Nicholas Cage didn’t feature in Deadpool & Wolverine, but it seems plausible that Marvel is reserving his character for a more significant film, possibly Avengers: Secret Wars. Fingers crossed that the rumors about his involvement prove accurate!
