First look at Euphoria star’s new Netflix drama
As a seasoned gamer and avid consumer of all things entertainment, I must admit that the latest trailer for “Penelope” has piqued my interest. Having grown up watching coming-of-age dramas, this one seems to offer a fresh perspective with its unique blend of survivalism and self-discovery. The stunning visuals of Washington State’s wilderness promise an immersive experience, much like exploring an open-world game.
As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the initial trailer for the upcoming coming-of-age drama titled “Penelope” has been revealed! This captivating tale features the exceptional talents of Austin Abrams, who graced our screens in “Euphoria,” and Megan Stott, an actress I’ve grown fond of from “Little Fires Everywhere.” Can’t wait to see more!
Beginning September 24 on Netflix US, an eight-episode series unfolds, in which Stott portrays the lead character – a 16-year-old girl who breaks away from her familiar world and loved ones to venture deep into the untamed wilderness of Washington State.
In this heartfelt narrative, the protagonist carves out a new path for herself, seamlessly blending the struggles of self-preservation and personal growth, as she embarks on an enlightening voyage of self-realization.
The trailer begins with Penelope recording a message for her mother: “I apologize for my sudden departure. This isn’t about you or fleeing, it feels more like I’m moving towards something. It’s as if I’m being guided. Please, don’t search for me.”
Consequently, Penelope embarks on a life in the wilderness, encountering individuals such as Sam (Abrams), Helena (Krisha Fairchild), and Peter (Rhenzy Feliz) during her journey.
Penelope was developed by the duo, Mark Duplass and Mel Eslyn, with Jay Duplass and Shuli Harel taking on the role of executive producers.
Elsewhere, Abrams is next set to star in George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s upcoming thriller Wolfs.
The upcoming movie, slated for release on Apple TV+ on September 27, features George Clooney and Brad Pitt as two professional trouble-shooters, unknowingly assigned to the same task. In order to claim their reward, they are compelled to collaborate.
The film “Wolfs” is helmed by Jon Watts, who’s known for his work in the Spider-Man series, both as director and writer. Additionally, George Clooney and Brad Pitt will serve as producers for this project.
In addition to Amy Ryan from “Only Murders in the Building” and Poorna Jagannathan from “Never Have I Ever”, more information about their respective roles is still forthcoming.
