As a long-time film enthusiast with a keen eye for detail, I find myself disappointed by Lionsgate’s recent blunder with Adam Driver’s new movie “Megalopolis.” Having spent countless hours dissecting trailers and scrutinizing every frame, I’ve come to value the art of storytelling through cinematic previews. The use of fake quotes not only undermines that trust but also tarnishes the reputation of the film and its talented cast, particularly Adam Driver.

The trailer commenced by featuring comments from renowned critics such as Roger Ebert and Pauline Kael, who had initially criticized Francis Ford Coppola’s earlier films like ‘The Godfather’ and ‘Apocalypse Now’. However, these movies are now widely recognized as masterpieces. This suggests that ‘Megalopolis’, despite initial negative reviews, might not be as poor as it seems.

Initially, it was discovered that the quoted lines didn’t truly exist as stated, and the one that did was related to an entirely different film. In response to public outcry, Lionsgate issued an apology and took down the trailer.
