Gemma Collins shared that her relationship with Rami Hawash suffered during her difficult IVF treatment, which she described as emotionally devastating.
The 45-year-old reality star began dating businessman Rami again in 2020, following her breakup with James Argent.
Oh my gosh, you guys, it’s HAPPENING! Gemma and Rami are getting MARRIED! I nearly screamed when I heard Rami proposed, and she said YES! They’re planning the wedding for later this year, and I’m already counting down the days! I’m so incredibly happy for them both!
Gemma has spoken before about her difficulties getting pregnant and undergoing IVF treatment. Now, she’s sharing how those struggles affected her relationship with Rami.
I was so moved watching Gemma Collins talk about everything she went through last week. She was honest with Dermot O’Leary about how tough things were – her relationship was really struggling, and she was desperately trying for a baby. She said it felt like her whole life was falling apart, and honestly, it was heartbreaking to hear.
‘Because I was going through so much trauma and struggles, there was no performative person there.’
Oh my gosh, she finally said it! With her new show, Four Weddings And A Baby, she’s letting us in. Like, really in! She says it’s going to show the real her, and that’s because we’re going to be inside her home. It’s amazing! She hinted at this for so long, but she finally admitted she was really hurting, truly broken, and this show is where she’s finally opening up about it. I’m so excited – and a little worried, honestly – but I just need to see this. It’s everything!
Gemma is already a step-mother to Rami’s seven-year-old son Tristan.
She had mentioned exploring options like surrogacy and fostering, partly because her own mother grew up in foster care.
Gemma, known from the TV show The Only Way Is Essex, has low levels of a hormone called AMH, which indicates she doesn’t have many eggs remaining. She also has polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition that impacts the ovaries.
I was absolutely devastated to learn she’d gone through so much heartbreak. It turns out she first lost a baby way back in 2012, but she kept it private for years – she didn’t share that pain with the world until 2020. And that was just the first of three miscarriages she endured, which just breaks my heart all over again thinking about it.
Oh my god, it’s just… heartbreaking. Apparently, Gemma had no idea she was even pregnant! And then, she gave birth all alone on her landing, and the baby… the baby didn’t make it. She said it happened right there, in front of her. I can’t even imagine how awful that must have been. It’s just… devastating.
She suffered her second pregnancy loss in 2020 during the Covid pandemic.
Sadly, Gemma experienced another miscarriage in July 2020, her third loss, after becoming pregnant with her ex-boyfriend James’ child.
I was so relieved to hear Gemma decided not to move to Dubai! With everything happening over there in the Middle East, the war… I was seriously worried about her going. It’s such a weight off my mind knowing she’s staying put, it’s the best news ever!
She explained that she wouldn’t want to leave the UK, even for a luxurious trip with Rami and Tristan, because she’d miss it too much.
Gemma recently told New! magazine that while she talks about moving, her heart truly belongs in the UK. She’s a big fan of British culture – she loves things like afternoon tea and the iconic sights of London, like Big Ben – and feels she’s one of the UK’s biggest supporters.
I often find myself thinking about moving to Dubai, especially during the winter. I struggle with seasonal depression, and the idea of a warmer climate seems really appealing at those times, even though I’m happy where I am right now.
I love spending time in Dubai – it’s incredibly glamorous, and I enjoy dressing comfortably in caftans all day. However, I miss the UK too much to move there permanently. My heart is in the English countryside, and I feel a strong connection to the people back home, so I’m staying put.
Gemma shared that she’s planning three wedding celebrations: a main ceremony in the UK, another one overseas, and a smaller, more formal event just for close family and friends.
Staying true to her glamorous reputation, she also revealed she’s planning on having multiple wedding dresses to match the various celebrations.
Last year, she lovingly remembered her husband, Rami, and spoke about how much he helped her when she was first starting out on television.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I’m seriously losing it! Gemma just announced it – her forever love is happening! It’s a brand new show, and she says it’s all happening at the perfect time. I’m so thrilled for her and this incredible journey she’s about to share with everyone – it feels like everything she’s worked for is finally paying off! I can’t wait to see it all unfold!
I used to sell cars when I first met Rami. I later left that job for a position that paid £50 a day, and it was the best decision I ever made – I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Rami constantly encouraged me, telling me I’d succeed. He was incredibly generous, giving me £100 each morning to cover expenses like hair, makeup, and outfits for filming.
Gemma added that he was always there for her, and he used to bring her fresh bagels every Sunday. She said it’s wonderful how much they’ve grown together over time.
I really admire his strong work ethic – he still works six days a week, and it’s incredibly appealing. I also love that he accepts and loves me completely as I am, without needing me to wear makeup or put on any pretense.
