Watch the gripping trailer for upcoming BritBox mystery series Passenger

As a seasoned fan of British television who has spent countless hours huddled under blankets during autumn evenings, I can confidently say that BritBox’s upcoming crime drama series, “Passenger,” is set to be my next obsession. The chilling atmosphere and small-town intrigue promise to send shivers down my spine and keep me guessing until the very end.

The leaves are starting to crunch underfoot and I’ve detected a chill in the air. Autumn is only a few weeks away and what better way to get in the cozy mood than by hunkering down with BritBox’s buzzy new crime drama series Passenger, from the producers of Chernobyl.

Nestled in the secluded Chaddar Vale, the series Passenger unfolds as ex-Met Detective Riya Ajunwa (Wunmi Mosaku) delves into the enigmatic events that have been plaguing the town. Among these peculiarities is the vanishing of local resident Katie Wells (Rowan Robinson), which adds to the town’s unease. In a surprising turn for the typical crime drama narrative, Katie reappears the very next day, seemingly unharmed and safe.

Back with the townsfolk seemingly at peace, I can’t help but feel uneasy, Katie’s return not entirely quelling my suspicions. Matters only worsen when more bizarre crimes unfold, leaving me questioning if we’ve truly closed this case. The residents’ reluctance to cooperate with an outsider like myself adds fuel to the fire of curiosity; what secrets are they guarding?

The show titled “Passenger” is set to debut on Thursday, October 17th at 9:00 PM Eastern Time on BritBox. It will air its first two episodes initially, with additional episodes airing every two days until the grand finale on October 31st. Attendees of this year’s New York Comic Con are fortunate enough to watch a special preview screening and panel discussion prior to the premiere.

Besides BAFTA-winning actress Wunmi Mosaku, who you might recognize from Loki, Passenger also features Barry Sloane known for Revenge, Rowan Robinson from A Haunting in Venice, David Threlfall famous for Shameless, Arian Nik of Count Abdulla, and Ella Bruccoleri, a familiar face from Call the Midwife.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’d like to share that this captivating series was born from the creative genius of Andrew Buchanan, who took on his first screenwriting role for it. You might recognize him from his impressive work in shows like ‘The Honourable Woman’, ‘Broadchurch’, and ‘Better’. Intriguingly, Nicole Charles, known for her direction in ‘The Following Events Are Based on a Pack of Lies’, and Lee Haven Jones, renowned for ‘The Feast’, each helmed three episodes of the six-episode mystery.

If you don’t have a BritBox subscription yet, it’s the ideal platform for you to catch up on British television shows. You can sign up here to be ready to watch ‘Passenger’ in October. The service provides a 7-day free trial and plans start from $8.99 per month.
