Morfydd Clark: Galadriel has to "choose who she is" is The Rings of Power season 2 (exclusive)

As a die-hard fan of Middle-earth and its mesmerizing tales, I eagerly anticipate the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Morfydd Clark’s portrayal of Galadriel left an indelible mark on me in the first season, and her journey in this new phase promises to be nothing short of captivating.

The second installment of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is approaching, with Morfydd Clark’s character Galadriel remaining central. Last season, she became entangled in Sauron’s (Charlie Vickers) growing web of darkness while disguised as Halbrand. During our conversation at San Diego Comic-Con, Clark admitted that the events of the first season left a bitter taste ahead of season 2.

Clark remarked, “She finds herself at a crossroads, needing to decide her identity. She’s confused about where she belongs because she’s dealing with an issue that elves typically don’t encounter. As a result, she’s in a vulnerable position of having to rebuild her life amidst chaos. Yet, she’s evolving and transforming. She’s being guided, but there’s still a spark within her.”

In the captivating world of Middle-earth’s Second Age, I find myself following in the presence of none other than Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker), the venerable High King of the Noldoran Elves. It’s a timeframe that predates our beloved Frodo and Bilbo by millennia!

Regarding Walker, it seems like the actor is really enjoying exploring more aspects of his character. He explained that while the first season was mostly about setting up the world and introducing characters, the second season is all about diving in headfirst and making progress. Essentially, they’re delving into events from a later period in their fictional timeline.

Expect beauty and battle in the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

If you’ve caught the trailers for the second season of The Rings of Power, you can expect intense action sequences, possibly even battles that last for two episodes. From what Clark mentioned about her preparations, Galadriel seems poised to play a significant role in these events. She also shared that she enjoyed doing plenty of archery this season and found it challenging because it requires a different kind of hand-eye coordination compared to throwing a ball, which she’s not great at. However, she was surprisingly proficient, which came as a pleasant surprise.

It’s really exciting whether it’s a battle or not whenever you’re in like big set pieces with kind of loads of supporting actors, huge sets, loads going on, and we were really spoiled for that this season. And you know, those are just as actor, just your dream scenarios because you are literally there in the world, you feel like you are in Middle-earth. And you know, doing those scenes is thrilling and I hope they’re going to be thrilling to watch as well.

Clark hinted at even more stunning images to come. “I find it even more breathtaking this time around,” she shared. “In fact, I think visually it’s absolutely spectacular and that was already quite impressive when filming. But since then, it has been raised to a whole new level. So, yes, it looks amazing.”

As an eager fan, I can’t contain my excitement as I count down the days to the premiere of the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” on Amazon Prime Video, coming your way this Thursday, August 29! To make the anticipation even more unbearable (in a good way), the first three episodes will be released simultaneously. I can hardly wait to delve back into Middle-earth’s rich tapestry and join my fellow fans on this epic journey!
