Max reveals release date for Dune: Prophecy early?

As a seasoned gamer with decades of sand-blown adventures under my belt, I can’t help but feel like I’ve stumbled upon a spice-laden oasis in the vast desert of pop culture. The upcoming deluge of Dune content has me quivering with anticipation, much like a Fremen might do when faced with a towering sandworm.

Part Two” was a successful release for Warner Bros. Discovery earlier this year. A third “Dune” movie is planned, but the studio has more ideas to expand the series. Later in the year, they’ll debut “Dune: Prophecy,” a six-episode miniseries that takes place thousands of years before the familiar “Dune” story. Characters like Paul Atreides won’t be born for many generations yet. This prequel will introduce us to the formation of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood and characters such as Tula Harkonnen (Olivia Williams), Valya Harkonnen (Emily Watson) and Desmond Hard (Travis Fimmel). Recently, the Max Twitter account shared a sneak peek of Fimmel, known for his role in “Vikings,” as Desmond.

The tweet indicates that “Dune: Prophecy” is set to be released in November. Interestingly, this isn’t the original version of the tweet I saw. Earlier, before it was removed, there was a more detailed version specifying the release date as November 14th.

Was it that HBO accidentally leaked the official release date for Dune: Prophecy earlier and later retracted the information, or was the announced November 14 date incorrect? I’d prefer to believe the first scenario – makes for a more exciting story!

Today, news about Dune is spreading everywhere! Alongside the announcement of “Dune: Prophecy,” Funcom unveiled a gameplay trailer for their upcoming video game, “Dune: Awakening.” This multiplayer game sets players on the barren desert planet Arrakis, where they must struggle to survive. Form alliances, operate in secrecy, and remember to vary your steps to avoid being devoured by a sandworm!

Dune: Awakening is coming to PC early in 2025 and to PlayStation and XBox after that. Dune: Part Three is targeting a December 2026 release in theaters, and Dune: Prophecy…well, we can’t say for sure, but we know what we saw. In any case, I’m interested to see if this big bet on all things Dune pays off.
