Kyle Sandilands blasts US celebrity who accused Australian airport workers of ‘racial profiling’ in extraordinary on-air tirade

As an ardent admirer of Kyle Sandilands, I must say that his unapologetic stance and swift rebuttal to Eric André’s accusations of racial profiling at Melbourne Airport is nothing short of refreshing. Living in Australia for over three decades has instilled in him a deep understanding of the Australian culture, where everyone, regardless of race or ethnicity, is treated as equals.

On Tuesday morning, Kyle Sandilands criticized US entertainer Eric André following his accusations against Melbourne Airport for alleged racial profiling.

On Monday, I found myself in a situation where Australian border officials conducted a stop-and-search on me, a 41-year-old Adult Swim star. I couldn’t help but feel that this action may have been influenced by racial bias against individuals of color.

On “The Kyle and Jackie O Show,” radio personality Sandilands criticized Eric, calling him a “complainer” and emphasizing that the search wasn’t driven by racial bias.

Kyle, 53, became angry when he was singled out from the crowd for a random bag check, a practice that’s usual at airports everywhere.

‘No one gives a s**t you’re black.

Here in Australia, we don’t operate that way. Regardless of one’s race or ethnicity, everyone is treated equally at the airport. As humans, none of us receive any exclusive advantages.

‘Whether you’re brown, white, black, Chinese. We don’t give a rat’s a**e. Everyone gets checked randomly.’

Earlier this week, Eric expressed his worries on social media following an incident where he was subjected to a stop and search at Melbourne Airport.

On Monday, as he arrived in the city, the author and filmmaker launched an outburst against border agents for conducting a spontaneous dog sniff search on him.

He asserted that airport personnel in Terminal Two held him back after his 25-hour journey from New York, with a layover in Los Angeles.

The Florida-born entertainer shared on Instagram that they were taken from a group and placed in a unique line in Melbourne, where a dog gave them a thorough examination.

‘It’s one of the many times I’ve been racially profiled at the airport.

As a person of color who has traveled extensively through various cities and airports, I cannot help but feel compelled to share this advice with my fellow Black, Brown, and Indigenous travelers planning trips to Melbourne today, particularly if you are flying Qantas International from Terminal Two.

‘They are searching black, brown and indigenous people.’ 

On the Eric Andre Show, the host swore he wouldn’t visit Melbourne Airport solo ever again and asked anyone arranging his travel within the city to also arrange for a police escort.
