As a long-time comic book enthusiast who grew up reading X-Men, Transformers, and Gotham City Sirens, I must say that this month has been nothing short of exhilarating! The latest issues have brought some truly captivating moments that have kept me on the edge of my seat.

Here are just some highlights! Up next, I’ll be diving into the top 5 must-see comic book moments from this past week.

Khonshu orders the death of Moon Knight

  • Comic book: Vengeance of the Moon Knight No. 8
  • Writer: Jed MacKay
  • Artist: Devmalya Pramanik

In the story “Vengeance of the Moon Knight” issue 8, Marc Spector finds himself weary of obeying Khonshu’s commands to take innocent lives. However, he vows to himself to abstain from such actions. Sadly, this commitment proves difficult for him to maintain. At the climax of the story, Khonshu compels Marc to execute the Shroud.

Following Moon Knight’s demise, the Shroud assumed Moon Knight’s identity and dismantled everything that Marc stood for. Although Marc abhors taking lives, he is indebted to Khonshu for bringing him back (as depicted in issues 4 of Blood Hunt and 7 of Vengeance Of The Moon Knight). The response of the rest of the Midnight Mission to Marc’s future actions will shape his life moving forward.

Vampire life is a gift and a curse

  • Comic book: Miles Morales: Spider-Man No. 23
  • Writer: Cody Ziglar
  • Artist: Federico Vicentini

At the conclusion of Blood Hunt, Miles Morales’ vampirism was not reversed. It seemed that Miles might incorporate vampire abilities into his existing powers, but these came with a burden. His venom energy serves to suppress his vampire instincts, yet overuse could prove fatal. We must monitor this situation closely to see how long it persists. The venom powers are an essential aspect of Miles’ character as Spider-Man.

Who is the Nightwatcher?

  • Comic book: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Nightwatcher No. 1
  • Writer: Juni Ba
  • Artist: Fero Pe

After the game known as Armageddon, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles continued their crusade. With the disbandment of the team, it fell upon someone to safeguard Mutant Town. Stepping into the role was a newcomer, the Nightwatcher. However, who is this mysterious figure? It turns out to be Jennika. Despite her vow to Sheena that she would no longer wear a mask, there’s a need for protection against the bullies, and Jennika took up the responsibility.

It’s okay that Peter Parker isn’t with MJ

  • Comic book: Amazing Spider-Man No. 55
  • Writer: Zeb Wells
  • Artist: Emilio Laiso

Some avid Spider-Man admirers dislike how Amazing Spider-Man has handled Peter Parker’s storyline. As he and Mary Jane Watson were embarking on a new, joyful life together, this was abruptly ended at the start of the series. For the time being, fans can put aside the idea of MJ and Peter as a couple. Currently, Peter is in a relationship with Shay Marken, an employee at Ravencroft.

While it might seem disappointing that Peter Parker and Mary Jane aren’t together, embracing change can be beneficial. After all, nothing in life is permanent, and this new relationship could prove to be even more fulfilling in the long run.

The true All-Father

  • Comic book: Immortal Thor No. 14
  • Writer: All Ewing
  • Artist: Jan Bazaldua

The battle between Zeus and Thor didn’t disappoint. It starts with Zeus throwing lightning at Thor and the God of Thunder asking the lightning bolts to turn away (which they did). Eventually, Hercules tells Thor to endure and he does.

In a more natural and easy-to-understand way: Instead of merely harnessing the lightning, Thor seizes Zeus’ might along with it. This battle leaves Zeus weakened and frail. As a result, Thor emerges as the apparent ruler, readying himself for a confrontation against the ancient deities. Yet, this victory doesn’t come without cost. Hercules feels uneasy when he overhears a displeased tone in Thor’s voice following their fight.
