Logie Awards 2024: Viewers lash out at ‘irrelevant’ ceremony and constant The Voice promotions: ‘Does anyone not working in TV actually even care?’

Logie Awards 2024: Viewers lash out at 'irrelevant' ceremony and constant The Voice promotions: 'Does anyone not working in TV actually even care?'

As a dedicated television enthusiast with over three decades of watching and analyzing the small screen, I must admit that my initial excitement for this year’s Logie Awards was somewhat dampened by the overwhelming response from viewers expressing their disinterest and frustration. It seems that the night of nights has lost its luster in the eyes of many, a far cry from its golden days when it was the highlight of the Australian television calendar.

The Logie Awards got off to a glamrous start on Sunday night.

However, not all viewers found the telecast appealing; instead, some audiences switched to Channel Seven to ridicule the program.

The prestigious Australian television event was met with disappointment by some viewers, as evidenced by the comments that followed about X.

One person posted, ‘Will anybody be tuning into the Logies? Apart from Sam Pang, I couldn’t care less.’

Another agreed: ‘Literally just said that to the missus. How is the Logies still a thing??’

To be honest, I find The Logies to be quite amusing, but only in a way that really appeals to those directly involved or attending the event. From my perspective, it seems like the main reason to watch is for the live Twitter feed, where the real entertainment happens. Having followed award shows for years, I’ve noticed that the excitement and drama unfolding on social media can often be more captivating than the actual ceremony itself. It’s fascinating how technology has transformed our viewing experiences!

‘God, are the Logies STILL going?’ joked one viewer alongside a crying laughing emoji.

Does anyone not working in TV actually even care about the logies these days’ one person asked.

‘Most irrelevant awards around surely’ they added.

During the broadcast, viewers found it annoying that Channel Seven frequently advertised their reality show The Voice.

‘What’s with the Voice promo in the middle of the red carpet banter?’ asked one viewer.

‘I want to watch the Logies. Not The Voice. How dare they get all cross-promotional on us!’

Someone else chimed in: ‘Oh god. How many The Voice will we have to sit through tonight?’

Yet another added jokingly: ‘I do not consent to watching The Voice’.

‘Of course channel 7 has to promo their next show during the Logies’ one more person posted.

The Logie Awards can be compared to an extended premiere episode of “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.” Every few minutes, you might find yourself asking, “Who on earth is that?” with a touch of humor.

Some watching at home were enjoying the show however, with praise online for host Sam Pang.

As a seasoned comedy enthusiast who has attended countless shows, I must say that Sam Pang is absolutely nailing it once again with his opening monologue! There are no bounds to his wit and humor, and he consistently delivers performances that leave me in stitches. His ability to tackle tough topics with such ease and finesse is truly a testament to his skill as a comedian. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next!

Another said: ‘No one is safe when Sam Pang is hosting. Poor Leann Rimes was going to cry… And I’m totally here for it.’
