As a dedicated follower and admirer of Kate Ritchie’s career, I can’t help but be in awe of her resilience and versatility. From her humble beginnings as Sally Fletcher on Home and Away at just eight years old to her current role as a radio host, she has truly come a long way.

On a recent day, it was noticed that Kate Ritchie indulged in some self-care in Coogee, as she prepares for her hosting role at the 2024 Logie Awards scheduled on Sunday.

On Saturday, the previous star of Home and Away, now known for hosting radio shows, was relaxing in a massage chair as she got a manicure and pedicure at a nail studio.

The 46-year-old appeared relaxed as she was being pampered, clearly enjoying the pre-Logies downtime.

Kate wore a relaxed outfit consisting of a black long-sleeve top and a skirt, which she accessorized with a black jacket for the occasion.

In my professional opinion, I opted for a streamlined, effortless hairstyle, allowing my genuine beauty to shine through without any need for makeup.

Minutes following her departure from the salon, Kate was seen strolling around the streets of Coogee, carrying what seemed like a magazine and takeout meal.

The actress will be among the many stars presenting at this year’s award ceremony.

Kate is set to appear alongside Ray Meagher’s co-star from Home and Away, Rachel Griffiths, Deborah Mailman, Celia Pacquola, Luke McGregor, and Stephen Peacocke on the stage.

The report surfaced that Kate continues to make income from her role in the Channel Seven drama, even though it’s been 16 years since she left the series.

During an appearance on the popular radio program Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa hosted by Kate Ritchie, Kate mentioned that she continues to receive income when previously recorded scenes are re-used.

‘What do you get for the replays of Sally on Home and Away?’ Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli asked.

Her co-host Ryan Fitzgerald added: ‘Do you get royalties at all?’

She acknowledged receiving royalties, often referred to as “residuals,” from the show “Home and Away.” She then mentioned that this series is broadcast in more than 60 countries worldwide.

‘So will you get a check for 80 bucks or something?’ Fitzy asked.

‘Yeah I think so… something like that,’ Kate responded.

At the tender age of eight, Kate made her debut in the limelight back in 1988, playing the character Sally Fletcher in the popular daytime drama series, Home and Away.

For two decades, she was a central figure on that television series, and since then, she’s openly shared that it was challenging for her to establish her individual identity apart from the cherished role she played.

Although she had won two Gold Logie awards during her tenure, Kate admitted earlier that she still found herself doubting her self-worth.

In December 2017, Kate shared with Stellar that it was due to Sally that people sought her out, she received awards, and was invited to prestigious events.

When something has been such an integral part of your life that its absence leaves you questioning, “What makes me appealing to others?”

Eventually, I found myself delving into therapy to manage my personal struggles, expressing to TV Week in March 2021 that it felt like losing a significant aspect of myself.

She mentioned, “It took quite some time for me to get used to it,” also sharing, “[Therapy] turned out to be exactly what I required during that period.”

Since leaving Home and Away, Kate has struggled to replicate the same level of success as an actor.

In 2008, she landed a small role in Underbelly’s second season, appearing in two episodes.

Initially, she appeared in the 2010 police drama “Cops L.A.C.” produced by Nine, but unfortunately, the series didn’t perform well enough and was terminated following its inaugural season due to low ratings.

Kate primarily spends a significant amount of her time on the radio now, and she is a co-host for Fitzy and Wippa on Nova 96.9 alongside Kate Ritchie.
