Disney's A Whole New Sound drops full tracklist and release date: Yellowcard, Plain White T's and more!

As a child of the ’90s and early 2000s, I can confidently say that Disney’s upcoming album “A Whole New Sound” is a dream come true for me. Growing up with these timeless classics and now seeing them reinvented by some of my favorite pop punk and rock bands like Simple Plan, Yellowcard, and We The Kings, is beyond exciting!

Disney surprised everyone by announcing it would release a pop punk album featuring reimagined versions of some of its iconic songs. So far, they have released three previews: Simple Plan’s take on “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” (from The Lion King), Magnolia Park’s interpretation of “I2” (from A Goofy Movie), and most recently, New Found Glory’s rendition of “Part of Your World” (from The Little Mermaid). This isn’t the first time pop punk covers of Disney songs have appeared, but this album is unique.

1. Each of the three tracks has been nothing short of fantastic, and I believe they surpass all expectations. Previously knowing the abilities of Simple Plan and New Found Glory, Magnolia Park was an unfamiliar name to me; however, their rendition of one of my beloved Disney songs left me pleasantly impressed with their musical prowess.

Following the release of New Found Glory’s cover of “Part of Your World,” Disney has unveiled the complete tracklist for the album, along with the bands contributing to it. Fans from the ’90s and early 2000s are bound to be thrilled as this compilation includes reinterpretations by Yellowcard, Mayday Parade, We The Kings, Plain White T’s, Boys Like Girls, and Bowling for Soup. While I may not be overly acquainted with a few bands on the list, such as The Altar, Tokio Hotel, and LØLØ, I’m eager to give them a listen nonetheless.

The range of songs in this collection stretches across various Disney movies, encompassing timeless animated favorites such as Aladdin and The Little Mermaid, along with modern CG-animated successes like Frozen and Encanto. This album includes cover versions from decades’ worth of beloved Disney musical selections.

As a devoted fan, I can confidently say this album caters to all tastes. What excites me most is Yellowcard’s fresh take on “A Whole New World.” After being captivated by the Broadway version of Disney’s “Go the Distance” from their Hercules show, I can hardly wait to see We The Kings’ unique spin on it. That song has always been one of my favorites, and knowing it’s getting some well-deserved attention these days truly makes me feel joyful.

Beyond unveiling all the songs included, Disney also shared the upcoming release date for “A Whole New Sound”, which is fast approaching. The album drops on September 6th, and a vinyl version follows suit on October 4th. Pre-orders for the vinyl will start on the same day as the main release, that is, September 6th too.
