New Found Glory puts pop punk twist on The Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World"

As a long-time fan of the pop punk genre, I can confidently say that New Found Glory’s inclusion in Disney’s upcoming album “A Whole New Sound” was as inevitable as the sunrise. These pioneers have been shaping the landscape of pop punk for decades, and their latest rendition of “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid is yet another testament to their enduring talent.

It’s no surprise that when Disney unveiled their plans for a pop punk album featuring their greatest hits, you’d expect bands like New Found Glory to be included. After all, they are known as the “pioneers of pop punk” and have been producing chart-topping songs in this genre for many years.

It appears that just recently, the band has been subtly suggesting their involvement in the upcoming album titled “A Whole New Sound.” They shared a sneak peek and then released the full track on social media. Here is New Found Glory’s take on “Part of Your World,” originally from Disney’s classic animated movie The Little Mermaid.

For years, New Found Glory has been known for reinterpreting well-known film tunes. They started this tradition with their cover album entitled “From the Screen to Your Stereo“, released back in 2000.

Back in 2019, I stumbled upon a familiar tune on New Found Glory’s album, “From the Screen to Your Stereo 3”. Guess what it was? None other than their unique take on the hit song from Frozen, “Let It Go”!

New Found Glory has become the third musical act announced for Disney’s “A Whole New Sound,” joining forces with Simple Plan (“Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King) and Magnolia Park (“I2I” from A Goofy Movie). To date, all three bands have delivered remarkable reinventions of already fantastic tunes.

If you’ve just encountered New Found Glory for the first time, I strongly recommend delving into their earlier works. Their cover albums share a resemblance with what you’ve heard, but their original tracks pack quite a punch too. Don’t miss out on albums like “Nothing Gold Can Stay” from 1999, “New Found Glory” from 2000, “Sticks & Stones” from 2002, and “Catalyst” from 2004.

After unveiling New Found Glory’s rendition of “Part of Your World,” Disney has revealed that the album “A Whole New Sound” is set to drop on September 6th. So, only a few more weeks to go!
