Comedian Cal Wilson to be featured in upcoming season of The Great Australian Bake Off - filmed shortly before her death

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for quality entertainment and a heart for the human spirit, I must say that watching Cal Wilson host The Great Australian Bake Off is both a bittersweet and enlightening experience. Her wit, charm, and infectious energy shine through every episode, making it clear why she was chosen for this role.

The forthcoming season of The Great Australian Bake Off will see the late Australian comedian Cal Wilson taking on the role as host. These episodes were filmed prior to her passing.

Wilson, who passed away in October following a tough fight against a severe type of cancer, recorded episodes for the Foxtel series prior to her death, which will be broadcast next month.

‘In the hearts of everyone, Season Seven is particularly cherished. The sudden loss of Cal was an unimaginably shocking event for the Baking Show team,’ stated Wendy Moore from Foxtert Senior Staff.

In my heart, I truly cherish the memory of her. To anyone fortunate enough to know her, her absence is deeply felt. She brought an extraordinary mix of charm and compassion to our shared passion for this show, making each day brighter like a beacon of light in the shed.

I, being a devoted admirer, am thrilled to share that Moore made sure that the exceptional last season of Bake Off, graced by the fantastic Wilson, would air on Foxtel, having secured the wholehearted backing of her family.

It is set to premiere on Wednesday, August 18, on both Foxtel and Binge.

Cal is coming back to host the exciting cooking competition show, where he’ll be joined by British food expert Rachel Khoo and well-known Australian chef Darren Purchese.

Regrettably, our beloved Wilson managed to film just four episodes before she left us, leaving comedian Natalie Tran to step up and gracefully continue as the host for the remainder of this series. I can hardly wait!

In a statement, Tran expressed that this season is dedicated to her memory, showcasing the extraordinary skills of our bakers, and fostering the heartfelt friendships that truly make the show exceptional.

On October 11, the New Zealander, Wilson, passed away due to a rare and aggressive form of cancer, which was discovered only four weeks prior, following her visit to the hospital due to concerning lower back discomfort.

In Melbourne, the well-known stand-up comic leaves behind her spouse, Chris Woods, and their 14-year-old son, Digby.

In September, Wilson was shooting The Great Australian Bake Off for Foxtel in Sydney when she suddenly fell unwell.

According to Daily Mail Australia, she went to the hospital when she started feeling unwell and sought medical attention.

They confirmed she had suffered a rare form of cancer but declined to discuss her symptoms.
