What to Know About the ‘Ketamine Queen’ Arrested in Connection With the Death of Matthew Perry

As someone who has been a long-time fan of Matthew Perry and his iconic role as Chandler Bing in Friends, this news comes as a shock and a sad reminder of the dark side of stardom. It’s heartbreaking to see such a talented individual struggle with addiction, especially when it appears that he may have fallen prey to the manipulations of people like Jasveen Sangha, who seems to have been more interested in profiteering off her clients than their well-being.

A suspect, known as the “Ketamine Queen” in North Hollywood’s drug scene, who authorities accused of being a San Fernando Valley dealer, was among the two individuals taken into custody on Thursday, linked to the demise of actor Matthew Perry, a prominent figure on the show Friends.

I’m sharing news about Jasveen Sangha, a 41-year-old individual, who is one of five people recently charged in relation to the tragic passing of a well-known figure last year due to a ketamine overdose. Alongside Sangha, two doctors and Perry’s personal assistant are also facing charges. The authorities announced these developments on Thursday. It’s alleged that Sangha and one of the doctors, 42-year-old Salvador Plasencia, were apprehended on Thursday for supplying ketamine to Perry during his final days.

On the chilly October evening of the 28th, 2023, I found myself face-down in my beloved hot tub, a scenario that left me both bewildered and saddened. Days later, the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office confirmed the heartbreaking news: I had succumbed to the immediate impact of ketamine. As a devoted cinephile, this hot tub was more than just a piece of home luxury; it was my sanctuary where stories unfolded on celluloid screens. Alas, the story that unfolded for me that fateful night was one I never wished to see.

Officials have linked Sangha to a past fatal drug overdose as well. Here are some key facts about Sangha.

What charges is she facing?

On October 24th, 2023, I’m deeply saddened to admit that I unwittingly distributed ketamine which led to Perry’s tragic demise. As a citizen of both the United States and Great Britain, I find myself in a dire situation, facing nine charges connected to Perry’s passing: conspiracy to distribute ketamine, maintaining a drug-infested location, intent to distribute methamphetamine and ketamine, and five counts of ketamine distribution. On Thursday, I was formally charged in downtown Los Angeles and entered a plea of not guilty. If found guilty on all charges, the authorities have warned me that I could potentially spend my life behind bars.

On Thursday, the court refused to grant her a release on bail, meaning she must stay in detention. Her upcoming court date has been set for October 15th.

Why have her authorities dubbed her the “Ketamine Queen?”

Authorities allege that Sangha has been distributing ketamine, along with other illicit substances, from her North Hollywood residence since at least 2019. During a press conference on Thursday, U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada of California’s Central District described her home as a “drug marketplace.” He further disclosed that the search of her home uncovered over 80 vials of ketamine, in addition to drugs such as methamphetamine, cocaine, and Xanax.

As a cinephile delving into the grim realities of the world, I’ve found myself embroiled in a troubling situation. Last year in August, it’s been claimed that I knowingly peddled ketamine to an individual named Cody McLaury. Tragically, he perished hours later due to an overdose, as alleged by prosecutors. After receiving a chilling text from a relative of Cody’s, stating that the very substance I had sold was responsible for his demise, I felt compelled to seek answers on Google: “Can ketamine be listed as a cause of death?” This query, though seemingly innocuous at first glance, has left me in a precarious position.

One of the defendants who admitted guilt on August 8 regarding charges connected to Perry’s death, Erik Fleming, is cited in the indictment as stating about Sangha: she “primarily interacts with wealthy individuals and celebrities.” Sangha had previously posted images of her luxurious lifestyle on social media platforms, showcasing events, trips to Japan and Mexico, according to BBC reports.
