How to unlock Competitive Signatures in Overwatch 2

As per Gavin Winter, the systems designer of Overwatch 2, winning a game allows you to accumulate a Drive Score and move towards a milestone. Each milestone offers a reward, such as Competitive Points or Competitive Signatures, which in turn adorn your BattleTag.

Avoid a Teammate, rank reset, wave respawn, and Flashpoint updates

As an ardent Overwatch 2 enthusiast, let me share some highlights from the August 16 director’s blog update that caught my attention:

  • Avoid a Teammate has 15 slots, with 3 pinned slots and the 12 recent slots timing out after 7 days
  • Season 12 gets a soft rank reset
  • Wave Respawn replaces Group Respawn
  • Flashpoint maps get a speed boost to all spawn exits

In essence, Winter pointed out that the main issue with Group Respawn was that dying early frequently caused a series of teammates to die in quick succession, prolonging your respawn time significantly. This disadvantage was offset by the fact that other players’ respawn times were typically shorter. However, Wave Respawn addresses this problem by guaranteeing that your respawn time will always be shorter than the standard if another character had already perished before you.
