As a gamer with a soft spot for horror films and a deep affection for the chilling masterpiece that is Rosemary’s Baby, I can hardly contain my excitement for Apartment 7A! The poster alone, with its eerie green hue and haunting silhouette, has sent shivers down my spine.

One timeless horror classic, “Rosemary’s Baby,” is set to have a prequel this autumn named “Apartment 7A.” In recognition of the movie, Paramount+ unveiled a chilling new poster today, marking its premiere at this year’s Fantastic Fest.

Beginning on September 27, following its debut at Fantastic Fest on Friday, September 20, “Apartment 7A” is set to be streamed exclusively on Paramount+. This film was directed by Natalie Erika James, who also helmed “Relic”. The lead role of Terry Gionoffrio, one of the initial victims of Roman and Minnie Castevet, is played by Julia Garner, a Golden Globe award-winning actress.

For those familiar with the 1968 film, it is well-known that Rosemary Woodhouse (played by Mia Farrow) ultimately falls victim to the Castevets, forced to bear a child believed to be the Antichrist. However, prior to this, Rosemary encounters a young woman named Terry soon after her move into the Bramford. Regrettably, Terry’s life ends, reportedly by suicide. In the story Apartment 7A, we get to hear about Terry’s perspective on events.

Suitably, the latest poster emulates the same aesthetic as the initial Rosemary’s Baby poster, featuring the eerie green tint. The Bramford building is depicted alongside a woman’s silhouette in a ballet stance, hinting at the character Terry – a young dancer who resides with the Castevets during her recovery from a severe injury.

The signage presents a multi-layered image: if you turn it upside down, the Bramford appears to show a woman seemingly jumping out of a window, reminiscent of Terry’s supposed death. However, it strongly suggests that Minnie may have been the one who pushed her instead.

As I gaze upon this game poster, it’s clear that the character mirrors a ballerina, fitting given Terry’s dance background. The design also echoes the original Rosemary’s Baby poster with its black cliff silhouette.

The film’s official synopsis:

An ambitious young dancer Terry Gionoffrio (Julia Garner, Ozark) dreams of fame and fortune in New York City, but after suffering a devastating injury, an older, wealthy couple (Dianne Wiest, I Care a Lot, and Kevin McNally, Pirates of the Caribbean film series) welcomes her into their home in the luxury apartment building the Bramford. When fellow resident and influential Broadway producer (Jim Sturgess, Across the Universe) offers her another chance at fame, it seems that all her dreams are finally coming true. However, after an evening she can’t fully remember, disturbing circumstances soon have her second-guessing the sacrifices she’s willing to make for her career as she realizes that something evil is living not only in Apartment 7A, but in the Bramford itself.

Besides starting to stream on Paramount+ from September 27, the poster indicates that Apartment 7A can also be bought digitally, implying that you should be able to purchase it through digital retailers on the same day it debuts on the streaming platform.
