Kevin Spacey refuses to leave his Baltimore mansion after foreclosure sale

As I gaze upon the image of Kevin Spacey, I find myself contemplating the intricate tapestry that is his life and career. A man who once graced our screens with such unparalleled grace and brilliance, now finds himself entangled in a web of his own making.

The new owner claims that Kevin Spacey continues to reside in his Baltimore home, despite the property being sold at a foreclosure auction several weeks ago.

Actor Kevin Spacey, known for his role in “House of Cards,” lost his waterfront property following missed mortgage payments totaling $20,000 per month, according to the Baltimore Banner. This financial strain came after a series of sexual assault accusations starting in 2017 which led to his downfall in Hollywood.

A few weeks ago, Sam Asgari, a real estate investor based in Bethesda, Maryland, purchased a property for $3.24 million. However, as of Wednesday, Spacey has yet to move out of the property, according to a local news source in Baltimore.

Currently, he’s unwilling to depart, according to Asgari, who also mentioned that he was compelled to discuss terms with Spacey’s legal team. Essentially, he’s demanding a six-month period during which he won’t have to pay for the property.

Edward U. Lee III, the lawyer for the two-time Academy Award winner, has refuted the claims, stating to the media, “The assertion made by Mr. Asgari is untrue.”

Lee did not immediately reply Friday to a request for comment.

Spacey acquired a 9,000-square-foot property worth $5.65 million back in 2017. Following his dismissal from “House of Cards” that same year, this house served as his main residence.

In the world of cinema enthusiasts, I recently made a significant move – securing a deposit for the house once owned by the legendary figure, Johns Hopkins. Now, if the court approves the sale, I’ll be taking possession of the property that was previously home to Kevin Spacey. Should the need arise, I may initiate eviction proceedings against him post-purchase.

Struggling under mountains of debt and unable to cover his legal expenses, Spacey mentioned during an interview with Piers Morgan in June that he had no choice but to put his possessions in storage.

He expressed some uncertainty about his future residence, he mentioned it. As reported by the Daily Mail, Spacey listed his London penthouse for sale earlier in this very month as well.

One of the pioneers involved in the “MeToo” movement, Spacey, faced accusations of sexual harassment as early as 2017, with Broadway actor Anthony Rapp being the first to allege such behavior. Rapp asserted that Spacey had made an inappropriate advance towards him in the 1980s, when Spacey was 26 years old and Rapp was just 14.

In a social media post, Spacey acknowledged that he might not remember the incident but if his actions indeed matched the description given, he expressed deep regret and apologized sincerely for what would have been unacceptable drunken behavior. He also empathized with the long-term impact of those feelings on the person involved.

Immediately following the accusations made by Rapp, Netflix severed its ties with Spacey on “House of Cards” and he was also dropped from the movie production of “All the Money in the World” directed by Ridley Scott.

Since then, the actor has been accused by multiple men of sexual assault and inappropriate behavior, charges he’s consistently denied. These accusations have resulted in lawsuits both in the U.S. and the U.K. Previous reports from The Times indicated that he was ordered to pay $31 million to the production company behind “House of Cards” for breaching their sexual harassment policies.

In 2022, there were no legal findings against Spacey in a federal civil lawsuit brought by Rapp, and in the previous year, a court in London declared him not guilty on nine charges related to sexual assault.

He still faces a separate civil suit from one of the four U.K. complainants, with a trial date expected in summer 2025, according to the Telegraph.

“The two-part documentary titled ‘Unmasking Spacey,’ aired by Channel 4 in May, presented new accusations from ten individuals who weren’t part of Spacey’s London court case. The channel alleges that Spacey stated he was given inadequate time and information to respond to the testimonies featured in this film.”

Spacey contested their assertion on X: “For the past week, I’ve been asking Channel 4 to grant me more than seven days to address accusations that are nearly half a century old and to supply me with adequate information to investigate these claims. However, Channel 4 has declined, arguing that giving me seven days to respond to fresh, anonymous, and unspecific allegations is a ‘fair chance’ for me to counter any charges made against me.”

“He stated that instead of passively enduring an unfair ‘documentary’ about him on a struggling network, which is merely a ploy for higher ratings, he will address any accusations in a suitable platform. In the past, when given the chance to present his side, the allegations have fallen apart under examination and he has been proven innocent.”

Following the documentary’s release, actors Liam Neeson and Sharon Stone came to Spacey’s defense.

As a fellow admirer, I can confidently say that Kevin truly embodies integrity and strength. From my perspective, our field deeply values his presence and keenly feels his absence. This is what I expressed when speaking with The Telegraph.

“Stone excitedly shared with the media, ‘I’m eager to have Kevin return to work.’ He’s a brilliant mind, full of grace, lively, overly kind, and knows more about our field than many of us could hope to understand.”
