As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood history, I find Teri Hatcher’s tale of motherhood and Bond girldom to be both inspiring and poignant. It’s a testament to her strength and dedication as a mother that she managed to balance her professional commitments while prioritizing the well-being of her unborn child.

Teri Hatcher didn’t get to fully enjoy being a Bond girl.

She was expecting a child during the filming of Tomorrow Never Dies, which she starred in opposite Pierce Brosnan, back in 1997.

I’ll confess that my attention was primarily centered on my personal life, specifically the anticipation of welcoming my first child with Jon Tenney, during our two-week filming schedule.

And ‘being a mother’ was at the ‘forefront’ of her mind.

She shared with The Guardian: “I retreat with immense gratitude. In Tomorrow Never Dies, my role was quite minor, which was ideal given that I was discreetly nine weeks pregnant at the time. I could only work for a fortnight, appearing in just a couple of scenes before becoming too far along in my pregnancy to continue.”

‘But the pregnancy got leaked and it was out of my control,’ she added.

I believe it would be challenging for such actions to go unnoticed today, given the significant progress in women’s rights. Nowadays, everyone is entitled to personal privacy.

She added of her time on the film: ‘Women are sensitive before their first trimester because you’re still wondering if it’s all going work out.

I longed to appear in the film, yet my role as a mother always took priority, unlike someone else who might have exclusively thought about how amazing it would be to star in a James Bond movie.

Teri’s daughter Emerson was born in 1997.

Her marriage to her daughter’s father didn’t last and they divorced in 2003.

Earlier, the actress shared insights on how she and her ex are coparenting Emerson following their separation – emphasizing that they strive to maintain a consistent and stable environment for their child.

She shared with the Irish Examiner that she had never desired for Emerson to grow up with her parents living in separate homes, and she will always carry a sense of guilt because Emerson is forced to shuttle between them.

“Yet, her father and I put in a lot of effort to ensure things are straightforward for her, and honestly, I believe she’s managing well.”
