Teen Mom: The Next Chapter: Briana DeJesus reunites nervously with mother Roxanne who checked into rehab for substance abuse issues

On the latest episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter on MTV, Briana DeJesus felt anxious as she awaited her mother Roxanne’s return home following a stay at a rehabilitation facility on Thursday.

According to Briana, who is 30 years old, it appears that the girl, similar in age to Nova, has been struggling with heroin addiction. She expressed concern, stating, “It’s possible she might return to using opioids. I can’t say for sure.”

In the second-season opener, titled “Pursue You,” Briana expressed her confusion about dealing with Roxanne’s arrival.

In a private conversation, Briana shared her thoughts that she had established boundaries with her mom by keeping the children at arm’s length, yet questioned whether this approach was still the best choice.

32-year-old Leah Messer from West Virginia accompanied her daughter Aliannah, who has a rare type of muscular dystrophy, to her physical therapy session. In a private moment, Leah discussed this diagnosis, which occurred a few months after Aliannah was born, in a confessional.

Currently, similar to most teenagers, she aspires to belong, which leads her to resist using her wheelchair and instead lean heavily on me and my sister, as Leah explained.

At lunch, Leah and her sister Victoria discussed their daughters’ situations. It seemed that Leah’s daughter was resistant to using a wheelchair, while Victoria’s admiration for her daughter’s strong-willed and independent nature was evident. However, Victoria also emphasized the importance of acknowledging limitations imposed by the disease.

Cheyenne Floyd, aged 30, revealed her concern about her former partner Cory Wharton, 33, participating in The Challenge series, as she pondered over the potential impact on their daughter Ryder, given that they would be separated for an extended period.

While Cory was in Seattle, he discussed with his girlfriend Taylor Selfridge the possibility of Cheyenne joining them along with his other daughters, while he was away. He inquired about Taylor’s wellbeing, to which she replied that it was awkward as people continued to ask where her husband was.

Taylor mentioned, “Occasionally, I find myself feeling awkward when I’m around children’s areas, and they often ask, ‘Where’s your partner?’ To which I respond, ‘I don’t have one.'”

‘You could just tell you do,’ Cory said. ‘We have two kids and a brand new house together.’

‘You can’t just call me your wife,’ Taylor said. ‘You haven’t made me a wife.’

‘Just because you don’t have the ring yet doesn’t mean you’re not my wife,’ Cory said.

The next day, Taylor took Cory to the airport and drove away crying.

At home in Indiana, Jade Cline had wished that her mom, Christy, would just be placed under house arrest due to a probation violation related to her marijuana offense. However, the court ultimately denied her house arrest and instead handed down a 62-day jail sentence for Christy.

‘This whole situation is a mess,’ Jade, 27, said.

She worried about what she would tell Kloie.

Cheyenne shared with her spouse, Zach Davis, that Ryder was thrilled about the upcoming Seattle trip. She reached out to Taylor to check in on her well-being and discuss the possibility of making the Seattle trip a reality.

‘Mila misses her big sister, too, so I think it’s a good idea,’ Taylor said.

Cory called Cheyenne and Ryder said she wanted a pink Gucci bag if he won The Challenge.

Leah expressed a desire to motivate her family to avoid overly assisting their daughter, allowing her to develop greater self-reliance instead.

Brianna informed Nova that their grandmother would return home from the airport later. Meanwhile, Nova’s father, Devoin, dropped by to look after the children.

Brianna stated, “She’s not about to change drastically because she’s returning home. So let’s wait and see how things unfold. I believe all will turn out well.”

Her mother Roxanne got into her car and said that her children wanted to see her.

‘What’s your plan now?’ Brianna said. ‘And you’re 100 percent off of methadone?’

‘Yeah, totally,’ Roxanne said. ‘That’s what I went in there to do. I did it. It was hard.’

Cheyenne, along with her children, traveled to Seattle where they booked an Airbnb. Soon after, Taylor arrived, prompting Ryder and Ace to eagerly welcome Mila and Maya with warm hugs. Curious about Taylor’s well-being, Cheyenne inquired about it following Cory’s recent revelation on MTV that people were constantly asking him when he would tie the knot.

Taylor expressed, “What makes you hesitant about wanting your children to witness a strong, healthy marriage?”

“Look, since we’ve got a kid together, it seems like we’re in this for the long haul,” I expressed. “It’s crucial that you strive to be your finest self for Ryder’s sake. You know, to demonstrate to her what true gentlemanhood is all about.”

‘He doesn’t treat me bad,’ Taylor said. ‘He treats me really good.’

Cheyenne stated, ‘He genuinely adores you and feels very at ease, but I encourage you to occasionally make him feel uneasy or unsettled.’

‘I used to cry and now I’m mad,’ Taylor said. ‘I’m not going to waste my years on you.’

‘I feel for Taylor,’ Cheyenne said in a confessional.

1. Brianna informed her mom that she needed to work out a strategy to avoid being by herself constantly.

Roxanne expressed, “I hadn’t been safeguarded,” she added, “I didn’t wish for my children to experience the same. I didn’t want them caught in that repeating loop.”

Roxanne said she hoped she was on her path to recovery.

‘Thank you for being a good daughter,’ Roxanne said.

Jade permitted her dad, Corey, to reside with her following her mom’s incarceration. On the same day, her mom, Christy, called her from prison. She expressed it was a tough reality pill when she had managed to stay clean for 15 months, considering her past actions.

Christy expressed, “I find myself in a rather challenging scenario, but let me assure you, my age doesn’t make me any less capable.”

Jade didn’t want to tell her daughter that her grandmother was in jail.

On my stroll, Aliannah contacted me via walkie-talkie, requesting I fetch some water for her. Intrigued, I inquired about her feelings regarding the upcoming start of high school.

Leah mentioned, “I plan to give you more freedom, but I feel that over time, we may have shielded you from the full grasp of your muscle condition.”

‘I know where I can walk and where I can’t walk,’ Aliannah said.

‘You know your body better than anyone else,’ Leah said. 

Cheyenne and Taylor took their kids around Seattle. Cory called to check in on them.

‘Daddy loves you,’ Cory said.

Cheyenne said she learned in co-parenting with Cory to put the kids first.

Briana met her sister Brittany to talk about their mother. 

Briana said she was going to bring her daughters Nova and Stella over to see her.

Roxanne said she needed help organizing her medication.

“Briana shared in a private moment that she’s confident her mother is robust and can bounce back from any challenge. Regardless of the outcome, she believes her mother will be alright.”
