Deep Space Nine's Ronald D. Moore expresses interest in returning to Star Trek

As a seasoned Star Trek enthusiast who’s witnessed the galaxy unfold from the bridge of The Next Generation to the Deep Space Nine, I can confidently say that Ronald D. Moore is nothing short of a cosmic maestro. From crafting gripping narratives like “Sins of the Father” and “Reunion,” to orchestrating the grand finale of TNG, his contributions have left an indelible mark on the universe.

As a devoted Star Trek fan, Ronald D. Moore is undoubtedly a familiar name. My journey in this world began when I was given the opportunity as a script editor on Star Trek: The Next Generation, following the success of two episodes I wrote for the series. Not only did I contribute to some of the most memorable episodes, such as “Sins of the Father” and “Reunion,” but I also collaborated with Brannon Braga to create the exceptional series finale for The Next Generation, titled “All Good Things.”

Following The Next Generation, Moore assumed the role of senior producer for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine during its third season, enriching the series with more intricate details about the Klingons and their home planet. He was a member of the production team for Star Trek: Voyager’s sixth season, but he departed just weeks into filming. Despite not having worked on Star Trek since then, it doesn’t rule out the possibility of him returning to the Star Trek universe with his skills in the future.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve often pondered the thought of revisiting a beloved franchise. In a recent chat with CinemaBlend, they dared to ask if such a return could be on the cards, and frankly, it’s an idea that’s constantly lurking at the edge of my thoughts.

I mean, it’s always one of those things that is in the back of my mind. It’d be fun to go back and do something again before my career is over. It’s in such good hands, you know, they’ve been doing a great job with it. So they don’t need me, but it would be fun to go do something eventually.

As a devotee of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Moore finds that this series aligns more closely with the spirit of the original. Despite his packed schedule, he diligently follows the show’s progression. He maintains an affiliation with Star Trek in his role as a spectator, and given his extensive background in Star Trek, he could prove to be an invaluable asset for contemporary Trek productions – particularly if Strange New Worlds delves into Klingon Territory. Alternatively, we may reencounter the Klingons in the 32nd century. Moore is exceptionally well-versed in the Klingon race, and it seems almost unthinkable not to leverage his expertise to elevate any Star Trek production.
