The crime series, created by Martin Gero and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, originally aired on NBC from 2015 to 2020, receiving three Emmy nominations. Now, eleven years after its debut and six years after the final episode, it’s once again popular on demand.
As of January 25th, the crime thriller Blindspot is currently the fourth most popular show on iTunes in the United States. It’s just behind RuPaul’s Drag Race, Landman, and IT: Welcome to Derry, which are in the top three spots. The series stars Jaimie Alexander (known from Thor) and Sullivan Stapelton, and centers around a complex international conspiracy that unfolds when a mysterious woman, Jane Doe (Alexander), is found naked in Times Square.
The show Blindspot featured Audrey Esparza, Ashley Johnson, and Michelle Hurd. The series begins with a woman, found completely naked and covered in detailed tattoos, who has no idea who she is or where she came from. Notably, one of the tattoos is the name of FBI agent Kurt Weller (played by Stapleton).
The show, which ran for five seasons, has a good audience score of 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, though there aren’t enough reviews yet for a critics’ score. Its creator, Greg Berlanti, was an executive producer for all 100 episodes of Blindspot.
Blindspot Creator to Head New Stargate Show
Martin Gero, the creator of the show, will lead the new Stargate series. Before Blindspot, he worked on various Stargate television shows. Amazon MGM Studios announced the Stargate reboot in November 2025, with Gero serving as showrunner.
In a recent statement, Gero shared that his first television job was as a story editor on Stargate: Atlantis twenty years ago. He spent five years working on all three Stargate series, stating that the franchise ‘taught me everything about making television – it’s written into my DNA.’ Gero expressed his excitement that Amazon MGM Studios has asked him to lead the franchise’s future, adding that this continuation is for the dedicated fans who have kept the spirit of Stargate alive, as well as a promise of something special for new viewers.
Blindspot is streaming on Netflix and is available on iTunes in the U.S.
