After 5 Years, Psych 4 Finally Gets an Update

Maggie Lawson and Corbin Bernsen, stars of the popular series, recently discussed what might be next for the show and revealed a storyline they definitely want to avoid.

Bernsen explained that everyone involved is enthusiastic about continuing the project. However, he pointed out that as time passes and they all get older, it changes the dynamic. He noted it’s easier for someone in their 40s to keep going, and he specifically requested they avoid doing it around the anniversary of Henry’s death, sharing that he himself is 71 years old.

The History and Decades-Long Success of Psych

Shawn Spencer, created by Steve Franks and played by James Roday, is a highly perceptive man who pretends to be a psychic. He uses this guise to work as a police consultant in Santa Barbara, California.

Besides James Roday, Psych also featured Dulé Hill as Shawn’s close friend and partner Gus Guster, Corbin Bernsen as Shawn’s dad and former police sergeant Henry Spencer, Maggie Lawson as detective Juliet O’Hara, Timothy Omundson as detective Carlton Lassiter, and Kirsten Nelson as Chief Karen Vick.

When Psych first came out, viewers loved it, but it took a few seasons for critics to feel the same way. It eventually became one of USA Network’s most popular and highly-regarded shows. The series also expanded with a series of novels and now includes a trilogy of movies.

The movie Psych: The Movie first came out in 2017 and was a hit with fans. It was followed by Psych 2: Lassie Come Home and Psych 3: This Is Gus in 2020 and 2021. While fans are still waiting for news about Psych 4, the cast occasionally reunites for appearances, giving fans a chance to see them together.

What Is Corbin Bernsen’s Woodstockers All About?

Richard Bernsen and Lawson are working together again on a new series called Woodstockers, which Bernsen created and wrote. He plays Lenny, an older hippie whose life quickly unravels when his wife leaves and his best friend dies, leaving him feeling isolated. The show’s first episode recently premiered at the SXSW film festival.

Luckily, Lenny isn’t alone – he’s reunited with his daughter Alice, played by Lawson, and surrounded by a lively group of characters, including John Glover, Lea DeLaria, Willie C. Carpenter, and Lee Wilkof. The show Woodstockers also features Stephen Tobolowsky as Lenny’s close friend Calvin, Barbara Hershey as his former wife Rebecca, and Susan Ruttan as Calvin’s widow, Lizzy.
