Peaky Blinders star’s returning crime drama gets first-look trailer
As a die-hard fan of gripping courtroom dramas and captivating performances, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the second season of “The Twelve”! Starring the legendary Sam Neill, known for his roles in “Peaky Blinders,” “Jurassic Park,” and many more, this series is bound to keep us on the edge of our seats.
The Twelve, starring Sam Neill, has dropped its first-look trailer for season 2.
In the role made famous by his performances in “Peaky Blinders” and “Jurassic Park,” this actor takes on the character of barrister Brett Colby. The show centers around a murder case, offering viewers a unique perspective as it unfolds from the points of view of the twelve jurors involved.
In the UK, starting today, the second season shifts its location from the bustling cityscape to the quaint, remote western Australian town of Tunkwell on the streaming platform ITVX.
In this version, a local property owner named Bernice Price, portrayed by Kris McQuade, is discovered deceased. Her daughter and her partner are under suspicion for allegedly taking Bernice’s life. It falls upon a group of 12 residents from the area to determine whether Bernice met an untimely end due to foul play or if it was simply a tragic workplace incident.
The first-look trailer shows the return of Colby, who comes to Tunkwell to represent one of the defendants accused of Bernice’s murder, Patrick Harrows (Erroll Shands).
In a scene, character Meredith Nelson-Moore, portrayed by Frances O’Connor, stands up for fellow suspect Sasha Price, who is played by Amy Mathews.
In the trailer, the narrator comments: “We encounter a tale of two selfishly affectionate individuals.” He further explains: “A revered town figure, tragically slain at the hands of her daughter Sasha Price and her partner.”
Colby explains that a complex aspect of the trial lies in dealing with two defendants, yet there are other factors at play as well. The challenging dynamics between Colby and Meredith, both professionally and personally, could also make this particular trial difficult.
The trailer also shows Bernice, prior to her death, telling Patrick to end his relationship with Sasha.
In the courtroom, it came to light that she had confided another big secret in her daughter; however, the specifics of this secret remain unclear.
As a seasoned legal observer with years of courtroom experience under my belt, I found myself captivated by the synopsis for this upcoming show. Over eight riveting episodes, it promises to delve into the intricate lives and relationships of the jury members and legal team involved in an extraordinary trial that spans six intense weeks. The prospect of gaining a behind-the-scenes look at their personal struggles and triumphs as they navigate the complexities of this unique case is tantalizingly alluring. I can hardly wait to see how these individuals rise to the challenge, and I am eager to follow their journey through the often tumultuous world of law and justice.
However, it’s worth questioning whether the impartiality of our Twelve jurors can be maintained, given their roots in a close-knit rural area. One fact remains clear – whatever the verdict may bring, it will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on everyone involved.
As a passionate fan myself, I’m absolutely ecstatic that ITV’s Head of Content Acquisitions, Sasha Breslau, has managed to secure the UK premiere of The Twelve‘s new season! Truly, I believe there are countless viewers like me who are eagerly waiting for the court proceedings to resume.
The Twelve seasons 1-2 are now streaming on ITVX.
