Stephen Graham recently received a BAFTA nomination for his performance in the acclaimed series Adolescence. The show has been a major awards contender, earning a leading 11 nominations at the 2026 BAFTA TV Awards.
Surprisingly, even though we gave it five stars and predicted it would be a huge hit on Netflix in 2025, Stephen Graham’s show Boiling Point actually has a higher rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The BBC’s new four-episode series, from the same director (Philip Barantini, who later directed Adolescence with Graham) as the 2019 one-shot film, has received a perfect 100% rating from critics.

This drama premiered in 2023 and the entire series is currently available on BBC iPlayer. If you enjoy Stephen Graham’s acting, we definitely suggest checking it out.
The first episode of the Boiling Point TV series continues the story about nine months after the film ended, finally revealing the answer to a major question left unresolved by the movie’s finale.

Stephen Graham portrays Andy Jones, a former head chef in London who faced difficult personal challenges. He struggled with alcohol addiction, which led to the end of his marriage, strained his relationship with his son, and began to affect his performance at work.
Because of this, his relationships with his colleagues, especially sous-chef Carly and Freeman, began to fall apart, ultimately leading to a major confrontation at the end of the movie.

Hannah Walters, a talented actor and Stephen Graham’s wife, plays Emily, the pastry chef in the new restaurant. The couple have collaborated on several TV shows before, including Adolescence, A Thousand Blows, and This Is England.
Several original cast members are returning for Boiling Point, including Izuka Hoyle (known for Big Boys), Daniel Larkai (Malpractice), Stephen McMillan (Toxic Town), and Hannah Traylen (Ridley Road).
When “Boiling Point” continued as a TV series, it was highly praised by critics. The Daily Telegraph, for example, gave it a five-star rating and described it as a “ferociously good four-part drama series.”
Both Empire and the Irish Independent praised the series for its intense realism. Empire noted that while sometimes stressful to watch, this was actually a sign of how believable it was, while the Irish Independent said the series was worth every anxious moment.
So if you haven’t already, this is your sign to give it a go.
Boiling Point aired on BBC One and is now on BBC iPlayer.
