What is Spectre Divide?

What is Spectre Divide?

As a seasoned gamer with decades under my belt, I must say that Spectre Divide has caught my attention like a rare Pokémon hidden in tall grass. The game’s unique blend of tactical shooter mechanics and the ’90s anime aesthetic is something I haven’t seen before, and it’s refreshing to see new blood in the genre.

It’s hard to keep up with all new game releases nowadays.

If you haven’t been following the latest game releases this year, it’s possible you might not be familiar with Spectre Divide yet. However, it’s quite likely that some of your friends have already started playing it.

Don’t worry! Join us as we explore the intricacies of Spectre Divide – a game you can start playing in August 2024. Let’s delve into its mechanics together!

What type of game is Spectre Divide?

“Spectre Divide is a fresh three-player versus three (3 vs 3) first-person shooter (FPS) with tactical elements, marking the debut project from Mountaintop Studios. This studio has secured funding from angel investors like well-known gamers Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek and Tarik ‘tarik’ Celik, along with NBA star Paul George.”

In this game, much like Counter-Strike and VALORANT, you engage in missions centered around disarming bombs. Each round offers an opportunity to select your weaponry, and you can either safeguard the bomb site or attempt to destroy it while on the offensive.

As a devoted fan, I’d like to highlight some unique aspects that set Spectre Divide apart from other tactical shooters out there. Here’s what makes it stand out:

  1. The unique graphics that resemble Japanese anime from the ’90s.
  2. The concept of Duality. In Spectre Divide, you control two bodies in real-time, which allows you to defend two sites at once or even trade yourself, for example. This is possible because you can use Duality to swap to your second body, the Spectre, at any moment in the game. Even if you die, you’ll have the chance to get revenge with your Spectre.

Currently, at the time of this writing on August 13th, Spectre Divide is conducting a Closed Beta playtest that ends on August 21st. If you weren’t selected by the developers to participate, you can catch glimpses of the game by watching streamers play it on Twitch. By doing so, there might be an opportunity to receive an invite through Twitch Drops.

Mountaintop Studios might not keep the Closed Beta running for much longer, but there’s a chance they’ll hold an Open Beta prior to launching Spectre Divide globally.
