As a seasoned professional dancer myself, I can empathize with the jitters that come with performing in front of a live audience, especially on the grand stage that is Strictly Come Dancing. However, it’s quite another matter when the dance floor becomes a battleground, as seems to be the case with the recent allegations against Giovanni Pernice.
Last night, the bosses officially unveiled the remaining stars who will be participating in this year’s competition with great pride.
As a lifestyle expert, I must admit that the delay in wrapping up the investigation regarding Giovanni Pernice did somewhat dim the sparkle of an otherwise dazzling revelation.

Completing the 15-strong line-up was Sam Quek, a former Olympian turned television presenter.
The 35-year-old expressed: “Being a former hockey player, I’m accustomed to teamwork. However, the idea of dancing on the ballroom floor with a live audience watching is quite intimidating.” She further mentioned that she was delighted to be a part of the ‘famed show’, expressing: “It feels incredibly unrealistic, but I’m prepared for every aspect of this exciting journey.”
2023 saw former professional dancer Pernice, partnered with Amanda Abbington, facing misconduct allegations. However, these accusations were set to be dismissed this week, until Abbington, aged 50, supposedly disclosed unseen text messages from the past. These new revelations are expected to prolong the investigation’s outcome until next week. Previously, Abbington had claimed that her dance partner was abusive, cruel, and mean.
A significant setback has befallen the popular TV program of the BBC, as those in charge are eager to leave behind multiple instances of bullying allegations that have damaged their image.
As someone who has faced similar situations in my own life, I can empathize with Ms. Abbington’s ordeal. It is disheartening to see that such humiliating behavior continues to occur in professional settings, especially within a popular television show like Strictly Come Dancing. The fact that Pernice subjected her to ‘humiliating behavior of a sexual nature’ should not be tolerated and must be addressed appropriately. It is important for the entertainment industry, and society as a whole, to take a firm stance against such inappropriate conduct, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all participants involved.
