Kit Harington’s horror movie is now available to watch on Netflix

As a mother of three and having gone through my own fair share of postpartum struggles, I can’t help but feel a strong connection to Kit Harington’s latest film, “Baby Ruby.” The trailer is chilling, capturing the raw, unsettling emotions that often come with the transition into motherhood.

As a diehard fan, I’m thrilled to share that the talented actor from Game of Thrones is teaming up with Noémie Merlant (the brilliant lady from Portrait of a Lady on Fire) in a movie penned and directed by the esteemed Bess Wohl, who’s earned Tony nominations for her playwriting skills.

Debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2022, “Baby Ruby” showcases Merlant as influencer and expectant mother Jo. Married to Spencer (Harington), Jo is determined to host her own baby shower and maintain that nothing will change once their baby arrives.

It’s not long before I find myself on the brink of a significant shift in my life, as I begin encountering peculiar incidents connected to childbirth.

As a devoted mom, I warmly embrace the arrival of little Ruby into our family. Navigating the complexities of motherhood on my own, I find solace in joining a supportive group of fellow mothers. Intriguingly, I notice that my daughter interacts differently with me compared to her dad and grandmother – it’s almost as if she has a unique bond with each of us.

In the intense preview (located just above), we observe Jo exhibiting symptoms of postpartum depression, but these concerns are disregarded by Spencer, who reassures her that “it’s something everyone experiences.”

Rounding out the cast of Baby Ruby are Meredith Hagner, Jayne Atkinson and Reed Birney.

In the United States, where it can be streamed on Hulu, the movie garnered favorable criticisms soon after its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival two years back.

In that period, IndieWire commended Wohl’s directing skills, noting that the director skillfully portrayed the psychological horror aspects with finesse. On the other hand, The Playlist contended that the film delivers a potent message, shedding light on an overlooked aspect of motherhood.

Baby Ruby is available to watch on Netflix in the UK and on Hulu in the US.
