NetEase’s 5V5 shooter Hyper Front is making a return as ‘Operation Apocalypse’ in China
As a hardcore gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit that the anticipation for Operation Apocalypse is palpable! The game’s visuals are stunning, thanks to Unreal Engine 4, and the unique Chinese culture-inspired theme adds an exciting twist. However, the rumors surrounding its connection to Hyper Front have me a bit on edge.
“Apocalypse Project” is NetEase Games’ latest entry in the genre of sci-fi multiplayer shooters, now accepting pre-registrations in China. What has sparked curiosity among fans is that this game appears to be a revival of the previously canceled title, “Hyper Front,” under a new moniker. However, official details about it are yet to be disclosed.
Update as of August 12, 2024
The highly anticipated “Operation Apocalypse” will kick off officially at 10 am on the 16th of August, 2024, in China. Pre-downloads for this exciting event can be accessed starting from 10 am on the 14th of August, 2024.
We’ve contacted NetEase Games for their take on the matter, and we’ll share any updates as soon as they respond.
Operation Apocalypse draws resemblance to Hyper Front, which was shut down in 2023
Before diving into the buzz surrounding “Hyper Front“, allow me to share some details about our upcoming game. Known as “Operation Apocalypse”, it’s a mobile 5v5 multiplayer tactical shooting game that leverages Unreal Engine 4 for its remarkable visual effects. In this game, you’ll engage in combat with a theme inspired by Chinese culture, featuring weapons, maps, and characters that reflect this influence.
In the game, there are five distinct hero roles, each with its own set of specific duties and characteristics. However, within these roles, multiple hero variants exist, providing a wide array of skills and playstyles. Naturally, we can anticipate a variety of competitive modes, such as team fights, solo duels, qualifiers, and various challenges.
As a dedicated gamer, I was eagerly anticipating the release of Hyper Front – an online shooter game that had everyone buzzing. The resemblance between it and Riot Games’ hit shooter, Valorant, was uncanny, to say the least. Unfortunately, this ‘resemblance’ landed NetEase in hot water as Riot Games sued them for copying their game, claiming it was “completely mirrored.” As a result, Hyper Front had to shut down in 2023.
Operation Apocalypse will release in China on August 16, 2024
Having been a dedicated gamer myself for many years, I am thrilled to share that the highly anticipated game is set to launch on August 16th. If you happen to reside in China and wish to secure your spot, I strongly recommend signing up through the Haoyou Kuaidao app store. To make things even more convenient, simply scan the provided QR code using the App Client for a hassle-free process. As someone who has spent countless hours gaming, trust me when I say that being prepared and taking advantage of early access opportunities can greatly enhance your gaming experience. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity!
The specifics about the global release of the game remain unclear for now, but it seems that NetEase Games plans to launch it globally due to its appealing visuals and game details. On the other hand, regarding the global trademark for Starzone Elite, there has been opposition, but this isn’t necessarily a rejection as it is being contested instead.
Consequently, let’s stay calm while we anticipate further information about this topic. Be sure to check the official website frequently for any new announcements.
