Sunsoft is Back! Retro Games Selection Collects Three Previously Japan-Only Famicom Games in September

As a gamer with a soft spot for retro gaming, let me tell you, this announcement from Red Art Games and Sunsoft has me buzzing like a firework! I remember the thrill of playing those old Famicom titles back in the day, and now they’re making a comeback.

Red Art Games recently teamed up with Sunsoft for a collaboration, planning to launch ‘Sunsoft Revival: Classic Game Trio’, which will compile three vintage Famicom (known as NES in other regions) games initially launched exclusively in Japan during the 1980s.

In September, the Sunsoft collection will be digitally launched, featuring “Firework Thrower Kantaro’s 53 Stations of the Tokaido” – a 1986 action game where you assume the role of fireworks maker Kantaro. Your mission is to prevent malicious merchants from transforming your fireworks into weapons.

The collection includes ‘The Wing of Madoola’ (released in 1986), where you play as the fierce warrior Lucia, battling evil King Daltos to reclaim the powerful Wing of Madoola. Additionally, there’s ‘Ripple Island’ from 1988, featuring a young boy named Kyle who helps King Dotella fight against Emperor Groaker while striving for a better life.

1. All three games will feature complete translations to English and boast several user-friendly features such as save states and rewind options. Each title will also offer a CRT filter, multiple screen ratios and borders, an art gallery showcasing concept sketches and promotional materials, and 3D models of the original game cartridges for a nostalgic touch.

Sunsoft returns with a lineup of retro games! On September 6th, these classic titles will be available for purchase on the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch at a cost of $9.99 or €9.99 each.
