Pete Davidson’s ‘unpredictable’ career and feeling ‘miserable’ after Madelyn Cline split led to rehab stint

As a concerned observer, I find myself deeply moved by Pete Davidson’s journey, a young comedian who has faced his trials and tribulations with remarkable bravery. His struggle with mental health issues, drug addiction, and financial mismanagement is not unfamiliar to many of us, especially in the entertainment industry. However, it’s his resilience and unwavering spirit that truly sets him apart.

A source reports that Pete Davidson’s erratic actions following his breakup with Madelyn Cline, coupled with emotional distress, prompted him to seek treatment at a recovery center.

Earlier this month became known that the comedian, aged 30, sought help at a wellness center for his mental health issues. This revelation came only a few days following his announcement to his followers that he had stopped using drugs.

In the same month following almost a year together, Davidson and Cline parted ways. A source close to Pete, who had interacted with him just prior to his rehabilitation, shared with DailyMail.com: ‘Pete appears unhappy more often than not.’

According to the source, Pete’s genuine joy can only be seen when he’s engaged in his work or while he’s on stage, performing.

Besides his Prehab Tour that was initially scheduled to continue till mid-October but got canceled, the celebrity didn’t have numerous movie or television roles planned.

Four of his upcoming projects were either just completed or are in the post-production phase.

The source clarified: ‘Currently, Pete finds it challenging due to instability in his life. He performs optimally when his affairs are organized and his life is stable.’

As I navigate through my professional journey, I find myself in uncharted territories, and it’s this very unpredictability that has become a source of stress. The weight of the unknown brings an unexpected pressure, and this burden can often give rise to unwanted thoughts.

Despite suddenly cancelling all his upcoming comedy shows, leaving fans disappointed and causing financial loss, the celebrity chose to put his mental well-being first.

The insider noted: ‘He needs to have the right mental preparation to step onto the stage and deliver a performance for a crowd of thousands.’

On stage, he often appears jovial and light-hearted, which is his comfort zone. Consequently, some individuals may not realize the depth of his personal struggles, as he humorously discusses aspects of his life and shares laughter with his audience.

Pete appears to be getting the most encouragement from his loved ones – his family and friends – after his split with Outer Banks actor Cline.

Some of his most intimate companions became aware of his return for treatment only after reading about it in the newspapers.

Regardless of circumstances, they are rooting for his well-being and believe he will recover following treatment, according to a reliable source.

Months ago, his friends allegedly gave him a ‘wake-up call’ about his spending habits.

In my case, I found myself squandering my funds without a second thought, living it up with lavish expenditures on private jets and extravagant getaways. My friends stepped in to provide a much-needed reality check. This account is based on reliable sources.

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Pete Davidson for comment.

Just prior to checking into a wellness center this summer, Pete disclosed that he continues to use marijuana. Previously, he had admitted to using various other drugs.

At his comedy performance on July 20 at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, he shared with the audience, ‘I haven’t given up marijuana just yet. It’s about the only thing I have left. I tried cocaine and ketamine, as well as numerous pills and other substances. The only thing left for me is marijuana, so I’m hanging on a bit longer before it’s all over.’

Apart from describing the incident, he elaborated on his close-call event that took place in a garage in Los Angeles during March 2023. This incident led to charges against him for reckless driving.

On July 18, 2024, the misdemeanor accusation against him was dropped following his completion of several requirements: 50 hours of community work alongside a neurosurgeon, a defensive driving program, and a tour at a mortuary.

As reported by an exclusive source speaking to DailyMail.com, Pete is said to have announced at Ocean Casino’s Ovation Hall that his charges had been dropped, to which he allegedly responded with a mix of relief and remorse, saying something along the lines of ‘Yay, I suppose… I did wrong, it’s not something to be cheered about.’

Regardless of the conditions stipulated by the court, Pete shared that he was experiencing a prosperous year personally, and expressed profound gratitude for his life.

In 2022, Pete decided to depart from Saturday Night Live where he had been a member for eight years. Previously, he served as both the executive producer and star of Bupkis, a series on Peacock, but following just one season, he chose to step away from it.

Previously, The King of Staten Island’s actor expressed that Bupkis served as a reflection of his own life, given its deeply personal nature, depicting his challenges and family matters.

After almost a decade of my private life being under public scrutiny, I yearned for an opportunity to narrate my experiences in my own words. Among all my accomplishments, Bupkis stands out as the one I’m most pleased with.

He added, ‘I believe this phase of my journey has come to an end. I’m thrilled about what lies ahead and can’t wait for you all to witness the results. A big thank you to everyone who stands by me; your support is something I will always cherish.’

In July 2023, Pete sought help at a recovery center due to issues stemming from his post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder conditions.

The star even joked about his ‘post-rehab glow’ during a comedy show in Atlantic City last year.

A source told PEOPLE on Wednesday that mental health has ‘always been a priority’ for the actor.

After performing over 200 live stand-up comedy shows throughout the country, Davidson’s recovery period follows.

In July 2023, he sought help at a rehab center due to his ongoing struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder.

The star even joked about his “‘post-rehab glow’ during a comedy show in Atlantic City last year.

According to a different source, PEOPLE reports that Pete frequently seeks treatment at rehabilitation centers to address personal problems. During this period, his loved ones – friends and family – have offered their unwavering support.
