Despite Miley Cyrus previously making fun of her, JoJo Siwa still showed her support by attending the celebration for the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana on Monday.
JoJo, age 22, appeared cheerful while posing for photos. She wore a purple T-shirt with a sparkly accent and a black pleated skirt.
Miley, age 33, turned heads at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood with her outfit: a shimmering metallic dress worn over a Hannah Montana t-shirt. She was there with the original cast of the show.
It seems Miley and JoJo have resolved their differences. This comes after Miley made a comment about JoJo, who had previously come out as a lesbian, starting a relationship with Chris Hughes from Love Island.
Miley faced criticism after making a joke about JoJo in a video message she recorded for World Pride in June.
Speaking from inside a closet, Miley said: ‘Oh, my God, I haven’t been in here since sixth grade!’
Oh my gosh, she just gets it, you know? She was saying, if you’re finally ready to be yourself this Pride, go for it! But it shouldn’t just be for Pride month, it should be…always! Like, living authentically shouldn’t have a deadline, it should be a constant, forever thing. It’s just…everything she says is so perfect and true!
As the video ended, Miley joked, ‘I’m heading back inside for more pretzels and to find JoJo Siwa so we can bring her back out here!’
The joke received a positive reaction at the Washington D.C. event, but it didn’t go over well online. Many social media users criticized Miley, calling the comment unnecessary.
Shortly after, JoJo publicly discussed her sexuality following the start of a relationship with Chris, whom she met on Celebrity Big Brother last year.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following JoJo’s journey, and it’s been wonderful to see her embrace her true self. She first publicly shared she was part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, initially using the label pansexual. Over time, she realized ‘lesbian’ felt more accurate, but now she feels ‘queer’ best captures who she is. It’s all about finding the language that truly resonates, and I applaud her for being so open and honest about her evolving identity.
The performer shared that they believe ‘queer’ is a beautiful and inclusive term, representing a simple statement of self-acceptance: ‘I am who I am.’
Honestly, what gets me about the LGBTQIA+ community is just… love. Pure, simple love, in every direction. It’s the most incredible thing to witness, and it just… gets me. It really does.
She explained that there are many beautiful and diverse sexualities, describing sexuality and queerness as a vibrant rainbow with endless possibilities, including ones we haven’t even discovered yet.
The celebrity dismissed the criticism and shared, ‘I’m truly comfortable and happy with where I am in my life.’
I’m genuinely content and comfortable with my life right now. I’m truly happy and at peace knowing my feelings are authentic. You can’t choose who you fall in love with, and that’s okay.
JoJo also mentioned Chris, stating she’s always been certain about her feelings for him, the reality TV star.
Because of that, I’ve always trusted my own happiness and feelings, and I think that’s truly wonderful.
Siwa shared that simply thinking about him, or even talking about him, fills her with happiness.
The dancer and Hughes first met and became close friends in April while appearing on Celebrity Big Brother.

The former Dance Moms star recently shared an update, expressing her deep love for Chris, saying she loves him more than anything.
Along with some photos from Celebrity Big Brother, she shared that entering the house ten months ago was a life-changing experience.

JoJo mentioned she has a list of names she loves and has discussed with her partner, but she’s kept them private until now.
