As a longtime admirer of the British entertainment industry, I find myself consistently inspired and moved by the stories of those who grace our screens and stages. Among these remarkable individuals, Aled Jones stands out as one whose career has spanned generations, and his personal experiences with the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip are nothing short of captivating.

Does anyone rejoice in high summer quite like Jeremy Clarkson?

I’m asking because the Oxfordshire farmer has decided to leave his vast, hilly farmland at Diddly Squat behind and move instead to the sunlit slopes of the French Riviera.

He titles this picture online with, ‘If it’s clear, it’s clear,’ as he shares a glimpse of his girlfriend Lisa Hogan, admiring a sparkling underwater figure.

Indeed, let me share this with you. The couple, as a matter of fact, are appreciating an environment reminiscent of the scene depicted in David Hockney’s Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures), a piece that fetched an astounding £60million at auction back in 2018.

The painting was created in the year 1972, a span of three years following David Hockney’s stay with film and stage director Tony Richardson, who was the father of actresses Joely and Natasha.

Five years ago, Richardson, a person identifying as bisexual, parted ways with Vanessa Redgrave, the ladies who are mothers to Joely and Natasha, respectively.

Despite being quite busy, he consistently proved to be a diligent and charitable host, offering an endless supply of champagne and Provençal rosé to visitors at his villa. Over time, these guests ranged from Jack Nicholson to Dame Judi Dench.

A wide variety of entertainments were arranged. Interestingly, the villa’s caretaker, Caliban, who once worked as a street artist, was willing to sleep with anyone, regardless of gender.

Not that Clarkson, 64, or Hogan, 55, would ever have needed such diversion, of course.

Name of the week

Morwenna Lytton Cobbold, being part of one of the most extravagantly free-spirited noble families, decided to give her newborn a fittingly vibrant name.

It’s been reported that Morwenna, a previous Burberry model at 34 years old, along with her husband Phil Bush, once a singer with the rock band Cazals, have bestowed the name Aurelius Balthazar Cobbold Bush upon their newborn son.

It would be absolutely ideal should he perform onstage at Knebworth, the elegant Cobbold manor in Hertfordshire, a venue that has welcomed royalty, bands like Oasis, and even jousting competitions.

Aled’s songs of praise for late Queen

As a seasoned lifestyle connoisseur, I’ve had the distinct honor of sharing the stage with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness Prince Philip on numerous occasions. Their post-performance remarks, however, were remarkably diverse in their essence.

The Songs of Praise host, at 53 years old, remarked that she was consistently kind and curious about how much time had been spent mastering each piece, since she rose to prominence by singing ‘Walking in the Air’ during her teenage years.

In an episode of Rosebud podcast, he recounts, “After my performance with Leonard Bernstein, she (the late Queen) commented, ‘I imagine that must have been challenging – how long did it take you?’ I shared about the masterclass experience and she responded, ‘Your voice is sounding fantastic.'”

After that, Prince Philip had a habit of spoiling things by jokingly asking, “Did your voice change?” or similar remarks.

Warner Bros boss barks at Burchill in Adele’s defence

As an ardent admirer, I’ve found myself in the midst of a stir after Julie Burchill’s latest piece on the musical marvel, Adele, has drawn criticism from none other than music industry titan, Rob Dickins.

For 15 years, the chairman of Warner Bros UK has been in that position, and coincidentally, he is the uncle of Adele’s longtime manager, Jonathan Dickins. In response to a Facebook post about an article by Burchill, he expressed his frustration by asking, ‘I presume you haven’t met Adele or attended one of her live shows?’

Similar to Taylor Swift, she draws inspiration from her romantic experiences. Interestingly enough, her real life appears to be quite content and glamorous.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I found myself strongly disagreeing with Burchill’s remarks regarding Adele’s weight journey. Instead of focusing on the singer’s past struggles with binge-eating and emotional consumption of wine, it would have been more constructive to appreciate her immense talent and resilience.

Dickens counters: ‘It seems like you’re suggesting it’s unfortunate for a young woman to aspire for a lean physique. However, she is depicted participating in sports that she enjoys, rather than at social events such as parties, Met Gala, or film premiers.’

‘Perhaps you would all be happy if she became a Kardashian.’

As a staunch admirer of Margaret Thatcher, I had the honor to attend her funeral. However, during David Cameron’s leadership, I didn’t find a sense of acceptance within the Conservative Party.

Now, he says he was afraid of airing his political views in Left-wing dominated showbiz circles.

As an ardent admirer, allow me to rephrase the statement from Sir Tim: ‘In the realm of art and culture, I’m not sure if there’s a self-proclaimed elite lurking even in less refined corners. Yet, to avoid potentially stirring controversy, I choose to stay discreet.’

As a devoted admirer of punk violinist Nigel Kennedy, I ensure that when I travel with him and his fellow musicians, I don’t let airlines charge us extra for their larger instruments. Instead, I make certain we maximize the value of our tickets by making full use of the available space in our booked seats or negotiating for additional room if necessary.

‘I got a cellist in my band – I always demand an in-flight meal for the cello,’ Kennedy tells me.

‘The cello should get a meal – we’ve paid for the fee.’

Lulu, at the age of 75 and with a career spanning six decades, shows no signs of retiring from singing anytime soon. “Absolutely not!” she affirms about her latest statements regarding her profession.

I mentioned that the current tour would be my final one, prompting some to speculate, “Are you retiring then?” To which I replied, “Absolutely not.”

As a dedicated follower, I am thrilled to share some exciting news: the tour is far from over! In fact, the second part of my concert series kicks off in November, catering to those who couldn’t make it earlier due to its sold-out status. The passion for my work never wanes, and I eagerly look forward to continuing this incredible journey.

Dunbar’s girl is a musical force to be reckoned with

In his debut musical, “Kiss Me, Kate,” Adrian Dunson (known for playing Superintendent Ted Hastings in Line of Duty) demonstrated that he also has the talent to sing tunes on stage.

And the actor’s daughter Madeleine has shown that she’s ‘cooking with gas’, too.

The well-known cabaret performer, aged 36, has stepped into the realm of music and seems to have struck a chord with the BBC, as they’ve incorporated two of her compositions into a dramatic production.

“She expresses her great joy over securing her initial appearances on BBC One’s show, Champion,” writes Candice Carty-Williams. “Champion delves into the dynamic tale of the aftermath when celebrity intersects with family life.”

Zizi Strallen is enjoying a soaring West End career, but she does suffer precarious moments.

In simpler terms, the actress, aged 33, who is a relative (specifically, a niece) of well-known TV personality Bonnie Langford, shared an incident where she found herself temporarily stuck while playing Mary Poppins on stage, right in front of the curtain.

‘A stage crew used an elevated platform (cherry picker) to lower me from the stage because I was too high up. This process took approximately 2.5 hours.’

Far from Practically Perfect…
