As a seasoned film critic with over three decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the sheer volume of images accompanying this article about Tarot left me quite bewildered. It feels as if I’ve stumbled upon a treasure trove of stills from the film!

Viewers of Netflix have strongly criticized a horrifying movie, expressing frustration that their eyes are involuntarily twitching and exclaiming “Why am I still watching?!” The movie has gained popularity on the streaming platform, even though it received a dismal rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

As a connoisseur of the silver screen, let me share my thoughts on the recent release of “American Film Tarot,” which graced our cinema screens in May. This captivating production, featuring Avantika Vandanapu from “Mean Girls,” proved to be an extraordinary success, earning a staggering $49 million at the box office. Remarkably, it was produced on a budget of just $9 million, making it a resounding triumph for all involved.

After being obtained by Netflix, I had the privilege of making my debut among the top 10 most-watched films on their platform.

As a devoted enthusiast, I found myself immersed in the narrative of a Tarot-themed tale. The story centers around a band of college students who, after an enigmatic encounter with an unusual Tarot deck, experience a chilling chain of grisly deaths. In our quest to decipher the deck’s cryptic secrets and break the grim cycle before it’s too late, we must delve deep into the arcane mysteries that bind us together.

Despite achieving commercial success, Tarot has been criticized for poor ratings, with many viewers turning to the former platform known as Twitter to voice their concerns about its quality.

Audience commented: ‘I laughed out loud when I found out the film Tarot is on Netflix, but nobody has died yet and it’s already annoying me. My eyes are even twitching.’

‘Why am I’m watching #tarot on a Sunday morning, why was the first girl a Libra…?! (sic)’;

“I’ve been watching Tarot on Netflix lately, but I can’t help wondering why it had a theatrical release. The film quality seems quite poor.”

‘The tarot horror movie on netflix should be listed as a comedy bc what the f*** am i watching’;

‘Can’t tell yet if this Netflix movie Tarot is purposefully campy or just that it’s just bad’;

‘This Tarot movie on Netflix is soo bad’; ‘The tarot movie on Netflix. No thanks.’

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but echo the sentiments of a fellow viewer who recently commented on the Netflix adaptation of Tarot: “Art, after all, is subjective, and this time, it seems to resonate with me. Contrary to the popular belief that horror movies should be terrifying, this one manages to be ‘actually kind of good.'”

As a lifestyle expert, I can’t help but express my enthusiasm for an outstanding performance. In the recent film, Avantika delivered a chilling and captivating portrayal that left me craving more horror or thriller roles from her. Her performance in ‘Tarot’ on Netflix was truly exceptional.

Sony Pictures released a supernatural horror movie, which was skillfully directed by the duo, Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg.

It was produced by Leslie Morgenstein, Scott Glassgold, and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton.

Apart from her work, Leslie is responsible for the Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants movie franchise and the Netflix romantic drama titled Purple Hearts, featuring Nicholas Galitzine.

Avantika, aged 19, shared with USA Today why she chose Tarot, saying, “Mom had a strong interest in astrology while we were growing up, and I grew up deeply fascinated by the mystical world of astrology and occultism.” She further mentioned her fondness for horror films.

It was both Avantika’s first American horror film and the first movie she shot as an adult.

After an exhausting day filled with intense filming for Tarot, I received the life-changing news that I’d be making my breakthrough in the movie Mean Girls. The stress of the day suddenly felt worth it as I realized this was the moment my journey in cinema took a significant leap forward.

In her disclosure, Avantika shared that the most challenging aspect of creating Tarot was depicting the scenes where she had to escape danger.

She chuckled, stating she wasn’t really cut out for running, yet expressed her strong interest in exploring more opportunities within that field, expressing, “I absolutely adore the idea!”
