Deadpool & Wolverine team were asked to remove only one line
As a seasoned gamer and a connoisseur of pop culture, I’ve seen my fair share of comic book adaptations, but Deadpool & Wolverine has undeniably left an indelible mark. Shawn Levy’s latest directorial venture is a rollercoaster ride of action, humor, and, of course, the infamous fourth-wall breaks we’ve come to expect from our favorite Merc with a Mouth.
In the comic book collaboration between Deadpool and Wolverine, it appears that even the character known as Deadpool, famous for his adult-oriented humor, had to tone down one of his jokes due to its explicit nature.
Regarding the third installment of Ryan Reynold’s swearing, action-packed character series, it was revealed by director Shawn Levy that they had been requested to eliminate one particular line from their script.
He informed Entertainment Weekly that just a single line throughout the entire film needed altering.
Ryan and I have agreed on a promise to stick by this phrase until the end, however, I’ll add that it was revised with another humorous line involving Pinocchio pushing his nose into Deadpool’s face and then telling lies left and right.
If Marvel had chosen that joke, it likely would have been even less suitable than it appears now.
Levy added: “‘Ryan,’ I said, ‘that’s an alternate response for “Can we tidy this up?” That’s just how audacious Ryan Reynolds can be.'”
In a discussion about his character’s future, Ryan Reynolds has confessed that he’s unsure if Deadpool will be back again.
In an interview with Collider, he stated that the film was crafted as a full, standalone experience. It wasn’t intended to serve as a promotional tool for another movie or any other related content. Instead, he finds immense satisfaction in creating such a self-contained piece of cinema.
To be frank, at this very instant, I can’t say for certain if I’ll don the Deadpool suit once more in the future – I certainly hope so – but truthfully, I’m uncertain. For now, it seems best to put it away temporarily and wait to see what unfolds next.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing in cinemas.
