Inside MAFS groom Scott McCristal’s ‘messy’ $1.6 million Gold Coast waterfront home after his TV bride Gia Fleur ripped it to shreds

On Monday’s Married At First Sight, Gia Fleur wasn’t impressed with Scott McCristal’s expensive home by the water during Homestay Week.

More information has come to light about the large, two-story apartment with three bedrooms and two bathrooms on Australia’s Gold Coast, following the bride’s angry reaction to it.

This stylish, modern home is in the upscale Hollywell neighborhood, about 9 miles from the city center. It last sold at auction in December 2025 for $1.6 million.

32-year-old Scott hasn’t said if he owns the property, which could rent for around $1,144 per week.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe Scott’s house! It’s in Port Meirion Marine Village – seriously, the most beautiful place ever – and the views? Ocean for days! Everything inside is just… perfect. He has these gorgeous herringbone wood floors and the kitchen is all open-plan with stone countertops. It’s like something out of a magazine, honestly. I’m so jealous!

Gia complained that the enormous walk-in closet wasn’t big enough for all her clothes.

The bathroom features nice details like double sinks, two shower heads, and a large tub, but even these weren’t enough to impress Gia.

Residents can enjoy a BBQ area, a full-size tennis court, a large pool, and direct access to the waterfront along the Broadwater.

Enjoy a private balcony with water views, a dedicated home office, and an outdoor entertainment space.

Despite all the effort put in, Gia didn’t seem impressed. As soon as she walked into the businessman’s very clean apartment, she started pointing out flaws.

The bride constantly found fault with everything, from Scott’s decorating style to how clean he kept the place.

But it was the discovery of a pink neck pillow that led to an uneasy homestay for the pair.

Gia immediately doubted Scott’s previous statement that he’d never had a woman over to his large house when she discovered a woman’s item in his closet.

Questioning its colour, Gia later termed the neck pillow as a ‘woman thing’.

At one point, she asked Scott point-blank whether it belonged to ‘his ex’.

Meanwhile, fans took to social media to throw their support behind Scott and his elegant home.

One fan on Reddit jokingly said they’d even marry Scott just to live in his beautiful home, with another commenter praising the house and noting how well-maintained it is.

A third person said: ‘To see her instantly trash Scott’s place on the ocean was insane behaviour.’

When the show began, Scott shared how thrilled he was to have his bride join him in sunny Queensland.

Gia immediately ruined the atmosphere when she arrived, criticizing Scott’s house as ‘messy’ and complaining about how clean—or rather, not clean—he kept things.

She admitted in a private interview that she often looks for things to worry about, explaining it’s something she, as a woman, tends to do.

Scott seemed worried about Gia’s negativity and explained to the show’s producers that he would have acted differently if he were in her situation. He said he would have only been positive and polite, and that was all there was to it.

The argument about a neck pillow – a gift from friends, according to Scott – ultimately forced the couple to confront the underlying problems in their troubled relationship.

Gia, clearly upset, asked her groom to consider things from an outsider’s perspective. She pointed out he’d mentioned never having a female guest at his home, and now there was a clearly feminine item present.

‘From my point of view, it looked a certain way.’
