As an experienced gamer with years of eFootball under my belt, I must admit, this latest announcement from KONAMI has left me scratching my head a bit. The idea of a game title without a year is quite novel, and it’s like they’re trying to tell us that time no longer matters in the world of football!
At last, the long-awaited arrival of the new season is here! Indeed, KONAMI has unveiled the upcoming version of their game – eFootball 2024. In the middle of September, eFootball 2024 will receive an update to version 4.0.0, which includes numerous substantial changes and enhancements.
eFootball will have version number in the game title from the v4.0.0 update
During the upcoming v4.2.0 update, slated for Winter 2024, certain players and managers might no longer be accessible due to modifications in licenses and content. Once they’re unavailable, these individuals won’t be able to join matches, but you can still gain GP and items by releasing them from your team. Their availability status will be adjusted during the said update.
After the v4.0.0 update launches, you’ll be able to see which players and coaches will be temporarily unavailable within the game. Most of the existing features should work as usual, and I’ll provide a guide to help you navigate these changes soon. Also, keep in mind that your My League progress and points will be reset with the v4.0.0 update.
From now on, I’d like to clarify that the process for Contract Renewals will undergo an adjustment. Instead of having multiple renewals over a 60-day period, each such renewal will be transformed into what we’re calling a Lucky Draw. This gives you the opportunity to select a random player from a pool containing 100 previously released Epic and Highlight players.
As a dedicated player, I find that for every six Contract Renewals (10-day cycles) I accumulate, one of them gets transformed into a Chance Deal. Surprisingly, even if I don’t meet the full requirement of six Contract Renewals, any renewals I do have will still result in a Chance Deal.

Based on the announcement, it seems that the upcoming game won’t include the year in its title, which comes as a bit of a surprise. Instead of eFootball 2024 or any future numbered versions, they will call it eFootball v4.0.0. This new version follows the Season Update. As for when it will be released, that information has yet to be disclosed, so stay tuned for updates.
