Legendary noughties sitcom teases epic return ‘in the next six months’ after 14 years off screens as show creator admits ‘we have stories to tell’
As a die-hard Scrubs fan since its inception back in 2001, hearing the news about a potential reunion has me jumping for joy like J.D. would during one of his random musical moments! The Sacred Heart Hospital gang has been a constant source of laughter and comfort throughout my life, and I can’t even begin to express how thrilled I am at the prospect of catching up with them again.
The iconic ’90s sitcom “Scrubs” hints at a potential grand comeback within the next half year, marking a return to our screens after a 14-year hiatus.
Debuting in 2001, “Scrubs” is a humorous American TV series based on life at a hospital called Sacred Heart, spanning across nine seasons as it portrayed the staff’s daily experiences.
As a die-hard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement over the recent revelation by the genius behind our cherished sitcom, Bill Lawrence. He’s hinted at the possibility of a reunion within the next “six months to a year”! The cast members themselves seem eager, expressing that they feel there are still “stories to tell.” This news has sent waves of anticipation coursing through the hearts of fans like me who can’t wait to see our favorite characters back on screen.
In conversation with The Independent, he admitted, “We often discuss it. Since everyone from that series is exceptionally gifted, they’re all busy with their own projects.”
We’ve been considering reuniting the band, as we believe there are tales we still need to share with our audience.

In the healthcare field, these individuals are truly heroic during these challenging times. Money isn’t their primary motivation; instead, they have chosen this path out of dedication and compassion. Given the current circumstances, it seems plausible that solutions or improvements might emerge within the next six months to a year.
Instead of directly stating it, the author suggested reviving the series, but clarified that he won’t be involved in creating a complete film version.
During its duration, Scrubs received a total of 17 Emmy Award nominations, helping propel the main actors, Zach Braff and Donald Faison, to stardom.
In this TV show, Zach took on the roles of both the main character and the story’s narrator, portraying J.D. Dorian. Meanwhile, Donald played Christopher Turk, J.D.’s best friend who eventually rose to become the head surgeon at Sacred Heart Hospital over time.
Over the course of the years, the cast has kept in contact, and more recently, Bill joined forces with Zach again for his upcoming Apple+ crime comedy show titled “Bad Monkey.”
Zach takes on the role of Dr. Israel O’Peele, a fallen, drug-dependent physician who differs somewhat from his younger character, JD Dorian from Scrubs.
In March 2020, Zach and Donald debuted their podcast titled “Fake Doctors, Real Friends,” a production that is syndicated through iHeartRadio.
In this podcast, the two close friends and ex-castmates reminisce about their anecdotes and adventures during their tenure on the TV show “Scrubs.”

Zach had earlier expressed his enthusiasm for creating additional Scrubs episodes, as he disclosed that the entire cast is open to reuniting, either in a film, a miniseries, or another format, though at this moment, there are no active plans.
The 46-year-old from New Jersey expressed to THR that it simply isn’t possible for us to carry out the task without the undisputed mastermind behind Scrubs, Bill Lawrence.
As a seasoned entertainment journalist with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that I’ve witnessed many monumental moments in the industry, but this latest deal signed by [Name] with Warner Bros. TV certainly takes the cake. The magnitude of this agreement is unprecedented and will undoubtedly catapult his career to new heights. However, it seems that success has come at a price – [Name] is currently swamped with work and unable to accommodate requests for interviews or appearances.
In truth, if everything were aligned correctly, I firmly believe no actor would resist the opportunity to reunite and bring it back in some shape or form.
In 2017, I mused about a topic that seems to be on everyone’s lips lately, particularly as more folks revisit and modernize their old productions for streaming platforms like Netflix.
“I can’t help but feel envious when I see all the attention ‘Gilmore Girls’ and ‘Full House’ receive. Sometimes we might bring up those shows in conversation, so who knows? If given the chance, I would participate!”
