Meet Imogen Ruby Little, who played Daenerys Targaryen on House of the Dragon
As a devoted fan who has spent countless hours poring over maps of Westeros and engaging in heated debates about the finer points of Targaryen family dynamics, I was absolutely thrilled to see Imogen Ruby Little step into the iconic role of Daenerys Targaryen in the season 2 finale of House of the Dragon.
The final episode of Season 2 for “House of the Dragon,” titled “The Queen Who Ever Was,” featured a surprising guest appearance from a significant character known from “Game of Thrones” – Daenerys Targaryen, also recognized as Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, and more. In a premonition of future events, Daemon Targaryen caught a brief glimpse of her, recognizable only by the back view she presented, similar to how she appeared in the Season 1 finale of “Game of Thrones,” entitled “Fire and Blood,” immediately following the hatching of her three dragon offspring.

As a devoted fan, I must admit that during the latest episode, we didn’t get a glimpse of Emilia Clarke’s face in the role of Daenerys Targaryen, which sparked curiosity among viewers. Not too long after, British stunt trainee Imogen Ruby Little shared behind-the-scenes photos of herself portraying Daenerys on the show. Therefore, let me introduce you to our new Daenerys Targaryen: Imogen Ruby Little!
“Be careful with what you say, you’re talking to the Mother of Dragons now,” Little posted. “I’m thrilled to be part of House of the Dragon, take on a legendary role, and it’s an honor to breathe life into such a powerful character, however briefly, I had a great time doing it!” she wrote. “I’m absolutely ecstatic about this opportunity!”
It appears that Daemon’s glimpse into the future might have been a unique event, making it unlikely for Dany to reappear in the show again. However, it was quite engaging to watch this Game of Thrones character make an appearance on the prequel series, even if it was just briefly.
If she arrives, it won’t be immediately. While we’re excited about the third season of House of the Dragon (and anticipate a fourth and concluding season afterward), we likely won’t see it until 2026. In the interim, the new prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which takes place decades after House of the Dragon but centuries before Game of Thrones, is scheduled to debut on HBO and Max in 2025.
