Boaster comments on the mix of experienced and newer players at VALORANT Champions 2024

As a seasoned VALORANT enthusiast and long-time follower of FNATIC, I must say that Boaster’s insights during the post-match press conference at Champions 2024 were nothing short of enlightening. His perspective on the importance of balancing veteran experience with fresh blood in a team is something I wholeheartedly agree with.

At the heart of the buzzing post-Champions tournament press room, I, Booster from FNATIC, shared my insights on the intriguing blend of fresh and familiar faces, teams, and players that graced the stage this year.

In the ongoing Group Stage of VALORANT Champions 2024, a highly anticipated match between FNATIC and DRX captivated spectators. Regrettably, FNATIC, led by Jake “Booster” Howlett, lost to their opponents from the Pacific League, securing a playoff spot for the latter team instead.

In this game, FNATIC is not out yet, but DRX demonstrated their potential in a powerful display. During a post-game interview, we asked Boaster about the mix of veteran and emerging teams at Champions – those with a VALORANT history versus the newer powerhouses.

We spoke to FNATIC with other members of the media during the post-match press conference after their match with DRX. Our question was directed towards Boaster, the team’s IGL.

In the Champions event, experienced “legacy teams” who have competed multiple times are contrasted with debutant teams. As there’s a blend of veteran players and fresh faces in this competition, let me share some insights from experts:

It’s often typical to find that newcomers are brought in and then combined with individuals who have some level of experience. Typically, these newcomers take on leadership roles like IGL (In-Game Leader), or less attention-grabbing positions. Having a balance between the two groups is beneficial. If we stick only with veterans, maintaining their motivation can be challenging.

“Recall the feeling of being famished. Introduce something new, and it somehow triggers a similar sensation. I believe, yes, it’s beneficial. Those who persist in this field are likely those who can keep their drive, or their appetite for more.”

– Boaster, FNATIC VALORANT IGL

As a seasoned VALORANT gamer, if you’re catching up on the press conference video, don’t worry about the moderator interrupting Boaster mid-sentence. Instead, focus on the valuable insights he shares about what keeps successful teams thriving. It’s fascinating to learn his thoughts on how introducing “new blood” into a team can help maintain their success.
