In 2018, the CPS issued an apology for their decision not to proceed with a trial due to insufficient evidence. However, for Nicola, this apology came too late as the situation had already transpired.
She shared with the outlet: “For the very first time in my entire existence, I can confidently claim that I’ve experienced an injustice solely due to being a woman…”

In late 2021, Carl received a sentence of two years and eight months in prison following his confession about making death threats against Louise Minchin, a former host on BBC Breakfast, as well as threatening to assault her teenage daughter.
In a communication to Louise, he threatened: “Either vacate this place or face dire consequences,” and furthermore, he menacingly implied: “Your daughter is at risk of being sexually assaulted.” He also disclosed specific details such as their residence location (the village they lived in), home address, and the vehicles parked outside their house at that moment.
In response to one of Louise’s pictures, he pointed out: “That view looks like it captures her garden,” suggesting an understanding of where they reside.
The presenter and her daughter communicated that the effect of being stalked was profoundly harmful, heart-wrenching, and long-lasting, and they continue to feel intense anguish over it even after more than a year, this detail was shared with the judge.
In her victim impact statement, Louise expressed that she and others found it hard to rest due to constant worries about their safety. She felt apprehensive about daily activities and cautious towards strangers. They always preferred to go out in groups rather than alone.
I was overwhelmed with a sense of despair and powerlessness, as an individual threatened my teenage daughter with vile acts, leaving me unable to prevent potential severe physical and emotional damage.

In June 2022, Nicola publicly confirmed her relationship with Mitch by accompanying him to Elton John’s concert at Hyde Park.
