Tony Armstrong encourages fans to vote for him to be the first Aboriginal to win a Gold Logie: 'They would be a positive part of history'

As an avid television enthusiast with a heart for Australian talent, I find myself deeply moved by Tony Armstrong’s journey and his Gold Logie nomination this year. His ambition to become the first Aboriginal person to win this prestigious award is not just a personal dream, but a historic moment that could inspire generations to come.

Tony Armstrong has a very good reason for hoping to win the Gold Logie this year.

The host of ABC News Breakfast has been nominated for a highly prestigious award, titled “Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.” If he manages to secure enough votes, he would become the first Aboriginal individual to receive this honor.

The contestant shared with TV Tonight that viewers should support their campaign since it could make them contributors to history as they would be the first Aboriginal individual to win this award, if successful.

“Looking back now, I realize it’s past due for accolades, but can you imagine the thrill of being the trailblazer in this field?”

The television personality added that he feels ‘humbled’ by the prestigious nod.

He expressed that being nominated for a Gold Logie isn’t typically an aspiration, but when it occurs, it’s quite an emotional experience, almost awe-inspiring in a way.

Tony earlier revealed the one thing he doesn’t like about being up for the gold gong.

He told viewers he did not like smiling in photos used to advertise voting.

During their broadcast, co-host Michael Rowland playfully jabbed at Armstrong when he showed a promotional picture where the handsome celebrity looked grumpy.

“Rowland playfully remarked about the photo, asking, ‘Just how hot does it look there?’ He also inquired, ‘What directions did they give you when they asked you to take this pose? What kind of expression were they aiming for?'”

Armstrong replied, saying, “‘We often suggest that you should smile more.” However, I’m not fond of excessive smiling in photographs, as everyone here is aware.

‘Fun fact,’ Rowland teased Armstrong.

In addition, Rowland posted a backstage video where Armstrong appears to be viewing a clip showcasing his Gold Logie nomination.

Armstrong faces stiff competition in the Gold Logie race.

Among the competitors, you’ll find Robert Irwin and my fellow host from I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, Julia Morris.

Seven’s Larry Emdur, Sonia Kruger, Asher Keddie, and Andy Lee are also up for the prestigious gong.

Besides being nominated for the Golden Logie, Irwin is also competing alongside Morris, Emdur, Kruger, and Armstrong for the Bert Newton Award, which honors the Most Popular Presenter.

This category features another strong contender, Hamish Blake.

As a lifelong fan of Australian television, I am thrilled to share that this August 18th, I’ll be glued to my screen for the 64th annual Logie Awards! Having grown up watching these prestigious awards, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I recall the iconic moments and memorable performances that have graced our living rooms over the years. This year, the event is particularly special because it will be hosted by one of my favorite comedians, Sam Pang, right here in Sydney! And to top it all off, the whole show will be broadcast on Channel 7. I can hardly wait to see who will take home the coveted Logie awards this time around and enjoy another fantastic night of Australian entertainment!
