TVD: Damon and Elena’s Most Important Moments Together

The show was hugely popular thanks to its romantic storylines, especially the complex relationship between Elena, Damon, and Stefan. While Elena initially dated Stefan, she and Damon shared a passionate, forbidden connection that fans affectionately called “Delena.” Even today, “Delena” remains incredibly popular with viewers.

Damon and Elena’s connection was fueled by both intense attraction and constant risk, leading to some incredibly romantic scenes in The Vampire Diaries. Though their relationship began with complications, it quickly became obvious they were destined for each other. Moments like their first dance and first kiss weren’t just special – they defined the entire course of their love story.

In Season 1, Episode 19 of The Vampire Diaries, titled “Miss Mystic Falls”, Damon unexpectedly became Elena’s date to the beauty pageant. Before this, Elena strongly disliked Damon, but he revealed a softer, more caring side during the event. Originally, Elena’s boyfriend, Stefan, was meant to be her partner and share a dance, but his darker, more violent side took over, ruining the moment.

Stefan succumbed to his vampire instincts and disappeared. When Elena arrived, she was unexpectedly alone, but Damon immediately offered his arm and saved her from an awkward situation. This led to a genuine connection between them – they shared a dance and a moment of intimacy. There was a clear attraction, and Elena surprisingly found herself enjoying Damon’s company, something that didn’t often happen.

Okay, so Damon’s definitely moved past typical teen drama – he’s showing genuine emotion, and I caught a definite smile when he looked at Elena. Their chemistry is undeniable; they were practically radiating something, even if they haven’t quite figured it out yet. It’s a classic will-they-won’t-they setup, and I’m already hooked.

In Season 2, Episode 8 of The Vampire Diaries, titled “Rose”, Damon finally confessed his feelings to Elena as Klaus’s arrival drew near. Meanwhile, Elijah was searching for Elena to obtain doppelganger blood for Klaus. Rose kidnapped Elena, intending to give her to Elijah in exchange for a pardon for herself and Trevor.

The Salvatore brothers were determined to keep Elena safe, and they fiercely fought to rescue her. After a terrifying experience where they almost lost her, Damon finally told Elena he loved her. But in a painful decision, he then used his powers to make her forget he’d said it.

This marked the start of Damon’s journey toward becoming a better person, driven by his deep feelings for Elena. He’d been in love with her for a while, but this was the first time he openly admitted it. Knowing Stefan was a more suitable match for her at the time, Damon selflessly chose to erase her memory of his confession, shielding her from the weight of his feelings. Elena would later recall this moment in Season 4, after becoming a vampire and the compulsion he’d placed on her mind was lifted.

Vampires learned just how dangerous a werewolf bite could be when both Rose and Damon were bitten – Damon’s bite happened in Season 2, Episode 22, titled “As I Lay Dying.” At the time, they had no idea how to treat it, and after Rose succumbed to the madness and visions caused by the venom, everyone believed Damon would also die.

Damon was struggling and pushing people away, but Elena couldn’t bear to see him suffer, so she selflessly cared for him. When he collapsed, she held him tightly, fearing the worst. She kissed him what felt like goodbye, a kiss filled with hidden feelings and a deep affection she hadn’t fully acknowledged.

It was supposed to be a final, selfless act for a man who was dying, but when Damon and Elena kissed, you could just feel the connection between them. Then, out of nowhere, Klaus’ blood actually cured Damon! It was a classic move, honestly, and left both of them reeling, wondering what it meant for them. Even during all the drama, I always sensed Elena had feelings for Damon, but she kept pushing them down because of everything going on around them. That kiss just hung in the air, leaving us all wondering what would happen next.

Season 3 saw increasing conflict and attraction between Damon and Elena, culminating in a road trip to Denver in the episode “Heart of Darkness” to locate Jeremy. With Stefan absent, Damon and Elena’s connection deepened, and they shared intense chemistry while investigating the source of their vampire lineage.

After a long period of mutual attraction, Damon and Elena found themselves alone together in a motel room, and their connection quickly became physical. While Damon had usually been the one to initiate romantic gestures, Elena had always insisted she didn’t have feelings for her boyfriend’s brother. This time, though, she surprised him – and herself – by initiating their first genuine kiss, free from any pressure or danger. The moment led to a passionate kiss on the motel balcony, set to the music of Florence + The Machine’s “Never Let Me Go”.

It was wonderful to watch Elena finally give in to her feelings for Damon after keeping them hidden for so long. She took control of the situation and, for the first time, didn’t worry about what anyone else, like Jeremy, would think. This felt like the real start of their relationship, with both of them openly acknowledging their feelings and Elena simply following her heart.

One of the most important scenes for Damon and Elena happened in Season 3, Episode 22 of The Vampire Diaries, titled “The Departed.” Elena ultimately chose Stefan at the end of Season 3, but she heartbreakingly told Damon that she would have picked him if he’d come into her life sooner.

The episode shifted seamlessly into the past, revealing that Damon had first met Elena years before, while she was waiting for her parents. This was before the car accident on Wickery Bridge, from which Stefan had saved her. Even during that initial encounter, there was a playful connection between Damon and Elena, and he surprisingly showed a softer side to her than he usually did.

Damon was, as always, charismatic and captivating. He was initially attracted to Elena because she reminded him of Katherine, but he also genuinely liked her for who she was. He sweetly hoped she’d find the excitement and fulfillment she craved in life, unaware that he would ultimately be the source of it. This memory clearly showed that Damon and Elena were destined to be together, as fate had already brought them together, even if he had to erase her memories of it at one point.
