Betboom replaced by 3DMAX at IEM Cologne

Betboom replaced by 3DMAX at IEM Cologne

As a seasoned CS:GO fan with years of watching and analyzing tournaments under my belt, I must say that I’m quite excited about the shakeup at IEM Cologne 2024. The unexpected absence of BetBoom due to visa issues opens up an opportunity for the rising stars, 3DMAX.

3DMAX will face off against 9z in their inaugural match.

The highly anticipated IEM Cologne 2024 is nearly here, but unfortunately, BetBoom will be unable to attend due to visa complications. In their place, ESL has announced that 3DMAX will join the team for the event.

3DMAX replace BetBoom at IEM Cologne 2024

The IEM Cologne tournament is getting closer, but unfortunately, the BetBoom team won’t make it to the event. It seems they haven’t received their visas before the tournament starts on August 7, 2024.

At the Play-In stage of IEM Cologne 2024, 3DMAX will participate, as they currently hold the second position in the ESL World Ranking. ESL chose 3DMAX based on their replacement rules for tournaments, which are detailed on this page.

I regret to inform you that due to visa issues, @BetBoomTeam will not be able to attend #IEM Cologne. As a result, their spot has been given to @3DMAXGaming in accordance with our Team Replacement Policies.

3DMAX kicks off their matches in the Play-In round against 9Z. This team has just come from competing in the Skyesports Championship 2024 held in India. Although they faced some setbacks at the start, they quickly turned things around. Originally, BetBoom was part of the tournament but withdrew after Day 1. In the entire competition, 3DMAX suffered only one defeat – a close match against Eternal Fire during the group stage which ended with a score of 14-16 in favor of Eternal Fire.

Following similar challenges, it appears Heroic’s teammate, Degster, encountered visa problems for attending the event as well. Earlier speculation suggested that he might miss some matches in Cologne, but it has since been clarified that he won’t be able to participate in the entire event.

IEM Cologne kicks off on August 7 and features 24 of the best Counter-Strike teams in action. The event features a double-elimination format for the group stage followed by the Main event that takes place in the LANXESS Arena. The tournament will stream on Twitch and you can stay updated with all the latest scores here. The winner of IEM Cologne secures an invite to IEM Cologne 2025 as well as to the BLAST Premier World Finals later this year.
