It’s great news for fans who need more Chicago PD (episode count confirmed)
As a seasoned gamer of the One Chicago universe, I can’t help but feel a sense of relief and anticipation upon hearing the news that Chicago PD Season 12 will have a full 22-episode season! After navigating through the tumultuous waters of abbreviated seasons in recent years, it feels like returning to the familiar shores of a complete story arc.
So far, there’s some fantastic news regarding the NBC schedule from 2024 to 2025. The entire trilogy of “One Chicago” shows will return in September next year. We can hardly wait for the upcoming season 12 of “Chicago PD”.
Absolutely, viewers are curious about the length of the upcoming season. The television industry has undergone significant shifts in recent times, making it challenging to predict whether a show will run for a full season or not. This isn’t related to shifting from fall to midseason, but rather due to factors like production time and cost.
In recent times, certain aspects have been influenced by safety measures related to pandemics. These factors have significantly impacted many productions over the past couple of years. Is it also impacting “Chicago PD” this season?
Chicago PD Season 12 will have a full season
TVLine gave us the good news. All three One Chicago shows will have full 22-episode seasons.
Contrasting with the NBC plan for the past season, what they initially intended before summer’s strike disrupted everything was quite different. Originally, NBC had announced that most Dick Wolf shows would span between 18 and 20 episodes, except for Law & Order: Organized Crime, which was to consist of just 13 episodes in my fandom experience.
Previously, we had apprehensions about experiencing such an occurrence once more. However, while the number of episodes for the Law & Order series remains uncertain, it’s reassuring to know that there will definitely be a complete season on Wednesdays.
The appearance of characters may still be reduced
It’s possible that certain characters might not appear in all episodes during the 2023-2024 season as a cost-saving measure, similar to how Torres was absent for the first three episodes this season.
Due to NBC aiming to cut costs, there’s a chance we might see fewer solo episodes for certain characters. Fortunately, as long as the absence of these characters is adequately explained, the overall quality of the episodes should remain intact. However, we have concerns about Chicago PD, as it has a history of writing off characters without proper explanation, and we worry that this trend might continue.
