JonahP follows up on comments of Paper Rex being “bigger chokers” than G2
As a seasoned esports enthusiast with years of watching and analyzing matches under my belt, I must say that JonahP’s comments after their victory against Paper Rex were spot-on. Having followed both teams closely since their inception, I can vouch for the fact that G2 Esports simply outclassed PRX in this match.
At a post-game interview following the conference, esports.gg requested that JonahP from G2 Esports expand upon his earlier statements regarding Paper Rex.
G2 Esports outperformed Paper Rex in a 2:0 win. They acknowledged that PRX appeared more skilled compared to their performance at Masters Shanghai, but we couldn’t help but query Jonah “JonahP” Pulice about his remarks made during the group draw post-VCT Americas Stage 2 Final.
In the Group D pairing during VALORANT Champions 2024 in Seoul, Paper Rex was matched with G2 and PRX, along with Edward Gaming and FUT Esports. Following this matchup, he publicly declared that Paper Rex were larger underperformers compared to his own team during a post-match press conference.

In the Masters Shanghai tournament, the scoreboard might deceive as it was a tight competition; G2 emerged victorious with a score of 2:1. Interestingly, between the first and second maps in this showdown, G2’s coach, Josh “JoshRT” Lee, commented that PRX seemed to be playing significantly better compared to their previous encounters.
We wanted to know JonahP’s perspective regarding his remarks on PRX. Was he of the opinion that they played well or did he think G2 simply outsmarted them in this instance? Alternatively, could it be that their tendencies to choke under pressure affected their performance once more?
Initially, his reply didn’t get transmitted because the microphones at the press conference were turned off during part of his response. However, this is what we managed to capture: [followed by the content that was captured]
As someone who has played sports for many years, I must say that our team really stepped up its game this time around. We not only improved from our previous match, but we outclassed our opponents entirely. The score was a decisive 2:0, as opposed to the close call of 2:1 in our last encounter. It seemed as though we controlled every aspect of the game, and I don’t believe that they ever had an opportunity to take control away from us.

In the ongoing Group D of VALORANT Champions 2024, both JonahP and G2 Esports have advanced to the Winner’s match. This means they are now only one victory away from qualifying for the Playoff bracket. If you predicted them as the group’s top team in your Pick’Ems, this is a promising beginning for your selection.
