Simon Cowell abandons search for the new One Direction as his new reality TV series aimed at finding future pop stars fails to attract any stand out performers
As a seasoned lifestyle expert with decades of observation and analysis under my belt, I must say that Simon Cowell’s current predicament is not only heartbreaking but also a testament to the ever-evolving music industry.
It seems that Simon Cowell is no longer optimistic about forming another successful boyband like One Direction, as he believes the UK lacks the required talent in sufficient numbers.
Instead of “A reality TV series, called The Midas Touch, which was following his search for future stars,” the revised version could be: “The reality TV show ‘The Midas Touch’ will shift its focus from discovering new talents to examining Simon Cowell as his pop dream disintegrates.”
Simon Cowell, a 64-year-old judge on Britain’s Got Talent, has been hosting tryouts for teenagers aged 16 to 18 in cities like Liverpool, Dublin, and London. However, despite widespread promotion on social media, the attendance at these auditions has been relatively low, and many of the performances have fallen short of expectations. In some cases, certain young male performers were former members of bands that had previously been rejected.
In 2010, I had the privilege of being part of a group assembled by Simon Cowell on The X Factor, which included Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik. Although we ended up placing third that year, we went on to conquer the pop world with our music.
According to a source from The Midas Touch, it’s been suggested that Simon should shift the primary concept of the series. Instead of concentrating on assembling a boy band destined for immense fame, the emphasis is now heavily on Simon himself.
‘His frustration is at the auditions where many of the singers turning up are cast-offs from bands that didn’t make it. But perhaps more crucially, Simon has been told to come to terms with the fact that maybe the era of the chart-topping boyband is over. It is devastating for him.’
At least two audition dates have now been cancelled in Newcastle upon Tyne.
A producer announced: ‘We’re making a documentary about Simon grappling with the realization that the era of finding boybands may be ending. It could be quite captivating to see his decline, having been a prominent figure on Saturday night television for so long.’
