Last month, Chris’ first appearance on the widely-acclaimed show drew a somewhat cool response from viewers who felt unimpressed.
Audience members expressed their opinions about X, particularly concerning the shift in hosts, many lamenting the absence of Daryl, a beloved figure from Hey Hey It’s Saturday, who is now 72 years old, from their television screens.
One person wrote: ‘I’m watching #DancingAU but feel sorry that Daryl isn’t hosting.’
‘Don’t get me wrong, I love Dr Chris Brown, but I feel sorry for Daryl Somers,’ another said.
A third person directly criticized the newcomer as a substitute for Daryl, asking: ‘Are we still attempting to create another Chris Brown?’
In the face of doubters, I stand firm in my conviction that Chris will excel in his new role post-performance, specifically in the sky lounge.
Additionally, Sonia faced a portion of criticism since she entered the new season armed with jokes aimed at her previous co-host Daryl.
Television legend Darryl chose to depart from the series during its final season, and assertive Sonia playfully made a jibe at her ex-co-star instead.
She playfully told Chris that she suffered a severe injury during Dancing with the Stars. To her humor, it required the amputation of one of the hosts.
Though the remark brought laughter from the live audience, it didn’t win over all viewers tuning in at home.
One individual expressed frustration by saying, ‘Sonia’s continuous rude remarks towards Daryl Somers are not amusing; instead, they are uncalled-for, harsh, and simply unnecessary.’
If I had considered voting for her for the Gold Logie, I definitely won’t do that now. Her behavior is disgraceful, they commented further, labeling her as a ‘rude girl.’
Previously, Daryl served as the host for Dancing with the Stars from 2004 to 2007. He came back to the show in 2021 and continued hosting it along with Sonia until 2023.
