Angelina Jolie accuses Brad Pitt of trying to make her sign an $8.5M NDA to ‘force her silence’ about her abuse allegations against him

According to Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt sought for her to sign a $8.5 million agreement that would have silenced her regarding the accusations of abuse she made against him.
In September 2016, Angelina Jolie, aged 49, initiated a divorce proceeding from Brad Pitt, who is 60 years old, following an unexplained argument on a private jet while their eldest son, Maddox (now 22), was present.
Initially, during the course of events, the FBI examined claims that Pitt got physical with Maddox on the plane. However, the investigation ended without any charges being brought against him.
Yet, in court papers submitted this April, Jolie alleged that Pitt had exhibited abusive behavior towards her long before the flight incident.
Currently, in the persisting court dispute concerning their vineyard in southern France, Jolie has once more alleged mistreatment, as documented in a recently acquired court filing reported by People.

In the year 2008, while they had been deeply in love for quite some time without being married, Jolie and Pitt initially purchased the winery known as Chateau Miraval.
The dispute about the property arises because Angelina Jolie sold her share to Russian tycoon Yuri Shefler for $62 million in 2021, during her divorce process.
Pitt filed a lawsuit against her, arguing that she had breached their contract by selling her share of Chateau Miraval without first getting his approval.
In the midst of their marital breakdown, Pitt and Jolie became embroiled in a bitter dispute over the custody of their six children, with four of them now reaching adulthood.

On July 25th, Jolie presented her most recent court document regarding the winery dispute at the Los Angeles County Superior Court. This submission included discussions about the ongoing custody disagreement and allegations of abuse.
In the sale of her half of Chateau Miraval, it was emphasized by her lawyers that she did not act out of ill-will or with the intention to harm Pitt, regardless of any decisions made concerning custody matters.
Instead, Pitt reportedly declined to acquire her share only if he could first secure his recently expanded Non-Disclosure Agreement, which was backed by a $8.5 million holdback intended to compel her silence regarding his alleged abuse and concealment.
lawyers for her responded: ‘Although Brad Pitt uses an argument about domestic violence privacy that is more relevant in past times, this argument doesn’t hold up legally today, and he doesn’t provide any evidence to support it. Regardless, by filing a lawsuit against Angelina Jolie, he has forfeited any claims to privacy protections.’
Previously, Jolie’s legal team suggested that Pitt should share his private messages during the discovery phase of the winery case.
Pitt is resisting the extensive and private request, with his legal team stating that Jolie sought details concerning personal matters like therapy he chose to participate in following their flight.
Yet, he asserted that he was prepared to provide ‘adequate documents to reveal all that happened during the flight.’
On July 15, Pitt’s legal team claimed that Jolie was trying to transform their business disagreement into a reopening of the court proceedings related to their previous divorce.
They argue that Pitt’s personal, outside-party conversations during the 2016 flight had no relevance to the legal dispute over Chateau Miraval.
In the recent court documents submitted, Jolie’s legal representatives continue to argue for Pitt to disclose any pertinent communications related to her allegations of abuse.

In May, a judge instructed Jolie to disclose all Non-Disclosure Agreements that she is involved in, fulfilling a demand from Pitt’s legal team, as detailed in documents acquired by DailyMail.com.
Previously, Jolie stated that she declined selling her share of Chateau Miraval to Pitt as the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) he demanded contained terms that were deemed ‘restrictive’ and ‘punitive’.
Yet, Pitt’s legal team countered that her challenge against the NDA was merely a ‘convenient excuse’ for the transaction with Shefler, who owns a business empire encompassing Stolichnaya vodka.
They stated that it’s common practice for public figures to request Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), implying that Angelina Jolie had done so in her past as well.
Based on my years of experience as a family law attorney, I have noticed that non-disparagement clauses and nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) are becoming increasingly common in high-profile divorces. In this particular case involving Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, it appears that shortly after their divorce, Jolie’s lawyer proposed a broad non-disparagement clause to Pitt. This is not an uncommon tactic used by attorneys representing high-profile clients during contentious divorce proceedings.
According to Pitt’s legal team, a judge authorized the release of all Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and associated documents belonging to Jolie, upon their request.
