Marvel reportedly is trying to bring Tom Cruise into the MCU for Avengers 5 and 6
As a die-hard Marvel fan who has followed the universe since its humble beginnings, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and skepticism upon hearing the latest rumors about Tom Cruise potentially joining the MCU as an Iron Man variant. While it’s no secret that Cruise is a formidable actor with a wealth of experience under his belt, the thought of him playing anything other than Ethan Hunt gives me a strange sense of discomfort.
Speculation abounds once more as Marvel prepares for the future and reveals its plans for the next Avengers film. Now that Marvel Studios has confirmed Avengers 5 will be called “Avengers: Doomsday” while Avengers 6 becomes “Avengers: Secret Wars,” and with Deadpool and Wolverine opening the door to multiversal appearances, there’s much anticipation about who Marvel might recruit for their upcoming movies.
There are whispers that Tom Cruise might join Marvel Studios once more, with speculation he could portray a variation of one of Marvel’s beloved classic characters.
Based on reports, it seems that Marvel is aiming to recruit Tom Cruise as a version of Iron Man for the next two Avengers movies. This alignment aligns with earlier speculations when Cruise was among the actors Marvel considered for the role of Tony Stark. Additionally, he has been rumored to be a potential fit for other Marvel projects set in the multiverse, such as “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
Absolutely, Tom Cruise hasn’t been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll join, but given the recent whispers that Marvel might want him on board, it certainly seems plausible.
Tom Cruise doesn’t seem interested in playing Iron Man
Although speculations persist about Tom Cruise potentially portraying an Iron Man variant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems he has no intention of taking on this role himself.
When whispers emerged about him potentially portraying an Iron Man equivalent in “Multiverse of Madness“, Cruise appeared to refute the speculation and emphasized that he’s unwilling to replicate Robert Downey Jr.’s performance by assuming the character.
As a die-hard fan, let me tell you, Robert Downey Jr. was never near enough to that role, nor would I ever want anyone else for it. The thought of him embodying this character just seems so fitting and perfect to me. When Pop Culture asked about my proximity to the part and interest in superhero roles, I simply couldn’t contain my enthusiasm!
It’s clear that Marvel has a knack for convincing big names, but given Tom Cruise’s recent statements, it seems unlikely he’d join the MCU as Iron Man. However, a cameo from him could be an exciting twist, and it would certainly be a coup for Marvel to land such a renowned actor.
Since Robert Downey Jr. is returning to portray a new character, there could be an opportunity for another actor to take on a multiverse version of Iron Man. Whether this happens or if Tom Cruise gets cast remains uncertain, but it’ll be intriguing to find out what Marvel might do with the upcoming Avengers films!
